Has anyone here ever tried Reiki therapy? From what I understand it is bascially a massage therapy that is holistic based. I am considering trying it for some ongoing problems and would appreciate any imput.....good or bad. Thanks!

It's really different...it's not even like a massage...more like "laying of the hands". The really interesting part is the physical sensations (different temperatures, pressures, etc...) that occur during the session. It's a very spiritual treatment and while I'm not that spiritual of a person I was able to recognize that there was more to Reike than I was initially giving it credit for. I guess what I'm saying is give it a try and see how you feel about it. I know several people who swear by Reike healing. I know I didn't provide a ton of info...but I hope I was some help!! Take Care!

I can't tell you much about it...but I can tell you that there must be something to it because my hospital offers it free of charge to anyone who requests it.

Actually, if there was something to it, the hospital WOULD be charging for it!!
Just kidding, I'm very open to any alternative treatments/therapies, -- whatever helps the pt (or me! :) if I'm the pt). Western medicine clearly doesn't have all the answers for all patients in all situations, in my book. Check Reiki out, that's the only way you'll find answers. Good luck.

Two local hospitals here in eastern PA have recently incorporated Reiki into their treatment options.

I have a Reiki class and want to say that I am very sceptical to alternative medicin, esp. because I am working with canser, and have seen families ruine teir economyl
'by the way: I hav used it on my self: and its a good relaxing method. As far as I know, there has been scientificcily research in US with canser pt. and with good results. If you do a search on the net I will think you can find books witch are more and lesser serious! Anyway : Reiki music is very relaxing and you can use it in anestetic procedure , relaxing and for sleep.
