Recovery Room Nurses Making $78.00 Hr?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

A fellow student of mine today informed several of us at the hospital where she works, the Recovery Room Nurses are making $78.00 per hour.

Does this sound right? That sounds unreal to me.

Blessings to all.

Specializes in Flight, ER, Transport, ICU/Critical Care.

Well, for that kind of money - I'd have to consider the BLUEGRASS state to be full of GREEN.

On a search there are only 2 university medical centers in KY.

Lexington.

Louisville.

WHICH one?

DO they need ANY help?

;)

$78? As others have said, it has to include travel pay, overtime, callback time, something. Or they're a CRNA. Or that person heard it incorrectly.

I work in the Recovery Room in a major city out West and I make a whopping $24 an hour. I have a BSN, but only 1 yr experience.

Specializes in SICU/MICU and soon...CVRU.

WOW!! How can they afford to pay that much?

Maybe an average of $78/hr but how many hours did they have to work?

The location is University Hospital in Louisville, KY.

This lady works in the anesthesia department that told us this and she wasn't talking about nurse anesthesist (sp?) she was talking about the nurses that work in recovery.

She just said they (the recovery room nurses) make $78.00 an hour and my mouth dropped and my eyes about popped out. She has worked at the hospital for a long time and works a lot of overtime, so maybe she was talking about overtime for the nurses at that rate of pay?

We had to go into class and take a quiz right after she said that, so I plan on asking her more come Monday morning about the $78.00 an hour.

She said the hospital is a wonderful place to work, with excellent benefits. I know it is a fantastic teaching hospital.

Blessings to all.

At 36 hrs/week, that's just under $149K. I'd like to know more about this, because I'll be moving by the end of the year....

I'm thinking there's a hole somewhere...
