Instead of telling people to stop complaining you should encourage them to vote and lobby. Why, as a profession do nurses still feel so powerless? Telling people to stop complaing does nothing to move the nursing profession forward. If you cannot resist telling people to stop complaining then perhaps follow up with do something about it.

Hey, welcome aboard. As for people telling you not to apply becuse they will look down on you, what if they are wrong? I say it never hurts to apply. If they say no, you tried, but if you do not apply, you'll never know if their answere would have been yes.

I suggest going in and giving her your resume face-to-face. It shows interest and makes a lasting impression. She is sure to remember you before she will a e-mailed application.

Sedation or not I am shocked they wouldn't keep him for observation at least one night anyway. A procedure like that sounds painful, I wonder if the docs would require sedation in the event they need a needle aspiration?

I'm glad you got good care. However, getting so-so care from a US Dr. does not mean that is the same standard every Dr gives. I am sure there there are poor Dr's in Singapore as well. As for the expense, how much money would you make in Singapore compaired to what you make in the US?

Hospitals are not hiring LPNs or LVNs in most areas. They usually have to be desperate before they will consider it. Keep looking though, there has to be some place out there in need. Also, watch your spelling when filling out applications. Have somebody proof read if you need to.

I think 30 pts per nurse too much, but that is the norm. It should be more like 20. With the massive amounts of meds these folks are on it takes a very long time to pass meds. That is not to mention any special considerations some pts need after a procedure or operation. Couple that with assisting them with meals, treatments, and paper work and it's overwhelming.

I am in a peds rotation right now and cannot wait until it is over. I love children, I just have no desire to work with them. It is too sad to see them sick and hurt.

Who is going to choose to go to school for a career that doesn't pay well. I have a family to feed and want a decent wage. However, I also wanted to help people and make a difference. Nursing seemed to cover all the fields.

You can always get a weekend job as an aid, the pay is decent and the hours are pretty good too.
