Recount for UTMB

Published

I am still waiting to hear from UTMBs BSN program and wanted to get a roll-call going.....who else out there has applied there, been accepted there, or attends there? Thanks!

This waiting is killing me - especially since I put out two applications and have already been let down by one of them.

Well I got accepted....

But now I have to make a big descision. 3 years or 2? Retake Pharmacology and Health assessment or not...ADN or BSN.

hmmmmm....what a pickle.

awesome! keep up updated on your decision.

I know its a tough decision. If you are working full-time though, the 3-year would probably be best. However, I understand your dilemma. If I take pharm over the summer and then UTMB moves me off of the waiting list and into their program.....I don't know what I'd do. I want a BSN, but I also hate to waste the $$ on classes I've already had. Could you do a two-year ADN program and work full-time? Good luck to you and let us know what you decide.

I am leaning towords the ADN program, mostly because I already have a BS in biology so I wouldn't have to any classes except the core nursing classes. I have already taken Pharm, Health Asses, and Intro to nursing Process (at GC they allow you to take a few nursing classes without being inrolled in the program) so over the next 2 years I would only have to take at the most 7 credits a semester.

Its a hard choice, plus I would still do all of most of my clinicals at UTMB anyway. Who knows. This is hard.

If you already have a BS - it really wont matter which route you take because you will be eligible to apply to grad school either way - although if you do the AD route they may want you take a couple of other nursing courses that are considered upper division nursing first. Just something to consider. You may want to ask about that before you decide.

If you already know you have no interest in doing an MS anything - then either way is fine.

really? I always just figured you would have to have your BSN to go onto get your MSN. If I can get my MSN without my BSN then that seals the deal....ADN all the way! :)

I know UTMB has an ADN to MSN program...but if I remember right you actually get your BSN along the way.

I will have to look into that.

I know what you mean. HCC's program varies on credits also. Over the summer it is about 4 hours and throughout the program the highest is 10 hours.
