Recommendations (study tips/flash cards/books/etc) for Anatomy & Physiology

I have Anatomy & Physiology and it is my last pre-req before I can get into the Nursing program. It's a 16 week course, A&P 1 & 2 combined together (that's how my college does it). What did you use to study? Where did you get the items? Flash cards? Coloring books? Tips? Tricks? Etc?

I currently have Anatomy & Physiology made Incredibly Easy" by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. I'm debating on getting the following:

  • "Straight A's in Anatomy & Physiology" Author: Springhouse
  • "Anatomy & Physiology for Dummies" Author: Donna Rae Siegfried
  • "Anatomy & Physiology workbook for Dummies" Author: Janet Rae Dupree

If you used those, were they beneficial for you while you were taking this course?

Thanks for your help and your responses!

A&P was straight memorization for me so the more I was able to practice that, the easier it was for me.....I didn't buy any additional books or flash cards or anything, but if you'd think they'd help, then go for it....

Didn't use anything for A&P other than the textbook on a regular basis. Occasionally I would also use the textbook's website that comes with extra info and quizzes but that was it. Hate flashcards, making them and using them - they just don't work for me I guess. Your course seems compacted, I would just invest in one study aid if I were you -- too much is overwhelming enough to frustrate your efforts.

In my Anatomy class, the professor let us take photos of the models, which we would go over at home and before exams. That was an enormous help. There are several sites online which have drawings with fill-in-the-blanks. I've used those as refreshers which help too.

For Physiology, we figured out stories to go with the systems, like how a sperm is generated and its path, or the path of a blood cell through the kidneys. If you have a good imagination, that could help.

Wow, very helpful tips. Thanks for sharing with the forum. I'm going to go out and purchase a few books before I take A&P I, and II.

I think it depends what kind of learner you are. I am a visual/kinesthetic learner, so interactive software helps me a lot because i can see/do it. i like coloring books too, it helps me a whole lot. i also like the lab website. we use PAL 2.0.
