Ok.. so next week is pre-reg for spring 2004 classes  . So Im sitting here while I have some time trying to figure out my schedule.

Ive got everything decided on except my humanties elective..

I have a few choices...

1. Ethics (this seems really like it would fit into nursing...)

2. French Foreign language (just b/c I love french)

3. Sociology

4. General psychology II (I already took PsyI so PSYII is considered a humanties elective now).

Suggestions? I have no Idea what Ethics would go into.. has anyone taken it?

I'm surprised your program doesn't require Dev. Psych. If you're sure it does not, then you can consider another course. If you want to go on to a BSN though, I would take the Dev. Psych.

We have no such thing as Dev. Psychology. Psychology I and Human Growth and Development are as far as that goes.. Im not going for my BSN (yet.) :D

Ethics!! I wish I had taken that. I am really starting to see the decisions that we may be faced with and I think it would be a really beneficial class to take.

You're not required to take Ethics? I guess I'd take that. When I took it, it was a lot of writing and reading about philosophers. It wasn't difficult, but I didn't expect to be learning about Plato. It was interesting, these people are responsible for the way all of us think today. Not sure how Ethics is at your school though, but that's how it was at mine.

If you want an easy A, try sociology. This is sort of like a class about common sense. Some things about race,etc.. may apply to nursing.

Have you taken developmental psych? Most places require that.

Human Growth and Development is developmental psych, just w/a different name. I think that's what it was called when I took it. I would take that then. It's not difficult, pretty interesting, and I would think it would help you more than the others.

Human Growth and Development IS required.. Our ethics course description says "survey and discussion about moral and ethical issues present in our society. goes from early to modern times.":zzzzz

I absolutely HATED ethics. It was nothing like I expected. A lot of very, very, incredibly dull theory. If I was able to choose, (we had to take both) I would go with sociology. Very interesting and helpful to any career.

Did I mention that ethics was dull?:)

Personally I really liked Sociology. If I were going to take an ethics class it would be medical ethics. I once took an ethics class called Contemporary Moral Problems. Well the teacher told me I was immoral because I didn't agree with him on every aspect we discussed. LOL

Does your school offer a medical ethics class? I think that sounds like it'd be interesting and a good learning experience.

But if you really love French and it'll fill a requirement, why not go with that? :)

Just FYI, I tried to take a French class this semester, because I could. Well, it like to have killed me. The class was 3 hours 2x/wk plus we had to spend 2 hours/wk in lab (2 blocks 1 hr ea), I am also taking A & P 2 this semester so 2 classes with lab was TOUGH and I ended up dropping hte French course anyway.
