hi, i failed my first attempt at the nclex with 75 questions. i had taken the kaplan review that was required for graduation. i was able to take it a second time as part of their passing guarantee. at the class, the instructor said that the tests seem to change every couple of months. here is my question...
i would be interested in hearing from people that have taken the nclex-rn in the past two-three weeks to hear about what types of questions they got. for example, i am seeing in recent posts that people are getting many more math calcs in the past couple of weeks than they were getting a couple of months ago. i also have noticed that it appears that the number of sata's is dropping too compared to two months ago. i am just curious since i test in a week what others' experiences with the types and numbers of questions and catagories they are getting. i'm desparate to pass and scared to death of failing a second time. i'd love to hear what the test has been like for people the past two-three weeks.
thank you!!!
I would strongly suggest knowing your infection control very well. It is a very hot topic on NCLEX right now. There is an infection control thread around here somewhere that is very helpful. As far as SATA's, I got 5, but tested with other friends who got 30+, 22, and 3. We all passed with 75 questions.
Just took mine last sat and passed with 75. I had groups of about 4-5 SATAs in a row and then a medsurg or priority question. I had very few medication questions, but the ones I did get I was able to find out by knowing the ending of the med. I suggest you study the endings of all meds and memorize the groupings, that helped me out a lot! Prioritization was also there, but I made sure to study those types of questions on the Saunders cd over and over again. On the cd, you can choose what type of quiz questions you want, so if you are weak in certain areas you can take those more often than others.

I recently took the NCLEX in San Diego and I did not get any SATA"S but one drag and drop the following in order. I had questions more on priorities. I guess the bottom line in your question is that no one can really tell you what type of questions are you going to get because the next questions depends on your answer! This is why NCLEX is a very dynamic and it will ponder you if it feels you don't know that particular question! I am still having my finger cross and when I passed my exam then only then I can say that I did the right way on handling the questions.... Good luck....

I recently took the NCLEX on Aug 18 and found out that I passed on Aug 20. My computer shut off at 76 questions. I also did Kaplan and used NCLEX CDs and the kaplan qbank. I think what helped me was doing questions, understanding rationales, and reviewing nursing content. The test is definitely critical thinking and I was able to narrow down answers to two and hope I picked the right one.
