Recent ASN Becker College students/grads want to share experience about the program?

Published

I am interested in applying for the ASN program at Becker College. May anyone let me know how intense it is and your experience with professors and clinical instructors, what scheduling looks like and if you can work while doing the program as well, and if you think the cost of the program is worth it? The answers to these questions and anything else you feel you'd like to share will be helpful thank you (I am aware though that the school has amazing recent NCLEX passing rates).

I will be graduating in May from the ASN program. This program is Very challenging. Some of the professors are amazing, others not as much. I do feel like even though they are tough on you they really do care. We use ati testing and from what I've heard it over prepares you for nclex. I really hope it's true! Expect to be on campus/clinical 4-5 days a week. At times I hated it, but I'm out of here in 3 months!

I think it's pretty overpriced and I wish I went to my local cc program to save money. But they give out a tonnnnnnnn of aid if you qualify. I didn't because of my husband's income. They gave me a 10k scholarship per year which helped though.

As far as working is concerned, I worked about 15-20 hours a week during the first year.

Third semester is the most intense. I had to cut my hours back.

One woman in particular was very helpful during the admission process. You have to pass the TEAS test to be admitted but it's pretty easy. Hope this helps

They have a 97-100% pass rate on NCLEX from 2011 to 2014, that's a good sign :)

I just started the ADN program this spring. So far so good. It's a lot of work but it's a nursing program and that is to be expected. I have all my prerequisite classes done and I'm still on campus 4 days a week and at my clinical site one day a week. I definitely suggest that you try to get as many of the prerequisite classes done as you can before you start the nursing program. Juggling the two nursing classes you take first semester is enough trust me. You don't want to add Anatomy of microbiology on top of that.

As for price, it is very expensive. I did get some help with the scholarship and the fact that I only have to take the nursing classes but it's still much more than I would have paid if I went to QCC.

I was put on the waiting list at QCC until spring 2018! Personally, because I had no more classes to take it made sense to pay more and be done December 2017.

Hey Everyone, I got accepted to the ADN program for Fall2016, any tips, I have completed some prereqs but still need to take A&P2 and Micro. Aside from that i want to know if anyone is doing off campus housing and looking for roomates as well. I am moving from NY in the end of August. I want to do really well and any suggestions would be helpful, also is night clinicals or day clinicals better?
