Really starting to enjoy this job

Published

I have never felt more a part of a team/family than I have while working here at the school. The best part.... today starts our 2 week winter break!!!!!

Yay! It took me quite awhile to start to feel comfortable. My first few months were full of lots of confusion and uncertainty, and a serious lack of guidance. I am now feeling more confident in my abilities and nursing judgement, and very much loved by (almost) everyone. It feels good to be involved with the children in my small community. I'm glad you are settling in as well. Happy Holidays! Enjoy your time off!

Specializes in LTC and School Health.

School nursing is the best! I did school nursing full time then went PRN to get the overrated "hospital" experience. I miss the weekend, holiday, and snowdays off. I didn't mind working five days a week and most of the time they were four day work weeks due to holidays, snowdays, conferences, and etc. Ah, Maybe someday I'll go back full time.

That's awesome! It's so good to hear something positive. Lately so many people have been saying how much they hate their jobs. I eventually want to be a school nurse as well!!!:)

Good for you!!

I am still loving my elementary school nurse job, too (in my second year!). Sure, there are things that drive me insane, like at any other job. And the pay is pretty crummy. But, it is the closest thing to a "perfect nursing job" that I'll ever find! God willing, I intend to retire from this position in, what? Twenty five years or so??
