Hello, allnurses.com!!!!

I just wanted to post a thread to express my joy on starting nursing school this August at Charity School of Nursing in the great Big Easy--New Orleans! :balloons: :D:nuke::typing:smiley_aa;):lol2:

My dream for many years was to gain experience and training at Charity Hospital, but we all know that Katrina washed away many great memories in this city--including this well-known hospital. But everything has its purpose, and it's working well for me so far. I have no doubts at all that the following two years will be challenging and exhausting, but those two adjectives and any other negativity won't bring me down or make me change my mind. I'm more than sure that nursing is for me, and I am greatly anticipating to receive my pin and license after graduation. I'm so happy to have been told about this website, and I'm looking forward to much encouragement, advice, and comic relief from all of you.

Congrats to all new nursing students and, of course, NEW NURSES!!!

Hmm, you got that right!!! I have a countdown timer on my personal website plus my taskbar on my computer showing the days!!! 40 days, 13 hrs, 36 min!!! And counting...

I start on August 13th with a day of orientation on August 8th. Nervous? Yes. Scared? Somewhat. Excited? Of course.

There's just a bundle of emotions inside me! But I believe good things are to come to all of us!!

I have several friends who went to Charity, and it's an awesome school. I decided to go to LSU myself, but it was a tough choice. I started there Aug 11, 2005, so of course it flooded two weeks later. Now I'm in a school in Florida, and am finally back on track. I didn't even know Charity Hospital was open again - it is? You'll learn so much there, and get to see things you wouldn't be able to anywhere else. Good luck!

No, unfortunately it's not open. From what I hear, they won't open it at all--EVER!! Which is saddening b/c I've always wanted to work there, but University Hospital is somewhat taking over, I guess.

Either way, all is good!

I am glad yall are all so excited. I remember how excited I was when I started in Jan. Couldn't sleep, eat, so nervous I was sick to my stomach. You will need to be excited to keep your momentum going through out the semester. The good thing is that being excited doesn't end after day one. You still get to look forward to first day of clinicals, labs, and other classes. I know I am excited about the first day of my second semester. Good luck to you!
