Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2012

Published

ooops... The other one had 2011 instead of 2012... let's try this again:

Just thought I would start a new thread for the current application cycle. Questions... stats... rumors... etc!

My question is... for those applying this cycle, how did you do on the TEAS V? Since this is the first year they are using this test, it would be nice to see how everyone is doing.

(Please don't post TEAS 3 or TEAS 4 results, as the scores are NOT comparable with the TEAS V.)

What school did all of you apply to. I know Gateway has 92 seats and CCC has 162 seats I am an idiot to apply to gateway as my first choice. Why do they ask for a second choice if we wont get in? Kind of silly if you ask me! Mine said nothing it was a normal screen. Where was this glitch?

@nursing4811: I applied to NVCC. some of us found a way how to get to the "nursing application status website". some were able to see that they were waitlisted. I couldn't see anything either. when you log into mycommnet and then chose your school, type in "2011" in the search box and click on GO. but they took it off again, so you might not see it now. yes, it is silly to pick a second choice, I think they're doing it bc you never know how many apply...there might be a year where only 50 people apply, so that way they can fill up their seats. Honestly, it might never happen in CT lol as every single school has at least 3 times as many applicants than seats. Good luck!!!

Nursewannabe86, im sure anyone reading thru this thread will be stalking the mail just like us....just hoping i wont be included in the mail stalking next yeat ahh!! So nervous. I feel like i am annoying my friends and family, at least you guys know how i feel!

@motosteph: don't worry, I totally understand you! I feel the same way! everyone is already annoyed, I'm home sick, reading our thread, waiting for the mail....the funny thing is that I never felt that way about stalking the mail lol...if it was a handsome guy I'd understand...but the mail...lol...I thought I was the only one crazy, but after I read saramisus posts, I feel relieve haha.

anyways...we will know by tmrw or wednesday at the latest!

Some clinical instructors make you wear the lab jacket to dinner break. I have only worn mine a couple times, I regret buying it too. If you don't have a SNA shirt or a 3rd uniform shirt I would get one or the other, you will need it for 102. We have 3 validations, SimMan, 8 mandatory open labs, and the first week I had to wear my uniform 5 days in a row. 102 is incredibly unorganized, and your schedule will change a lot, can't wait to be done with this semester. Hi All - New to forum. I've applied to Norwalk and BHSN. No word yet. I've read all of your comments and you guys are too funny. I wish you all the best!

@studentnurseCT: what do you mean by saying that the schedule changes a lot? how bad does it change? what about the hours/days listed online in the school schedule? are you able to work during 102? I'm worried that the schedule will change so much that I won't be able to work anymore. and how soon do they let you know if there is a change in the schedule? do you know it a week ahead or just a couple of days ahead of time?thanks for your help!

Welcome Creole Do any of you have childreN? I have a 1 year old he turned one on easter so i am worried about managing with a baby. I know I can do it I was just wondering if anyone else was in my boat~

NurseWannaBe I work 24-32 hours a week, and sometimes pick up an extra shift. It's doable if you are organized and committed.

Nuresewannabe and studentnursect, what do you do for a living. I'm a waitress and im curious how many and which shifts (weekends nights/days, some weekday nights?) i would be able to work

@studentnurseCT: ok thanks. but I mean how much does the school schedule at the clinical site change? does it change a lot or is it the same every week? when you say you work up to 32 hours, that doesn't include the clinical at school right? I mean if my schedule was M/T 7-1pm for the clinics (I'm making this up), is it the same for every week or how often does it change during one semester?

I work as a childcare provider...I only work during the day, but I could work evenings (which will happen if I get in) and weekends, I don't really work night shifts...So I know I am fine...but if he schedule changes non-stop between shifts, that might be a problem for me.
