The school can set limits on loan amount. My school started doing it this year, meaning that you may be eligible to receive X amount per year but the school can reject your application if the number is too far off from their set limit. (So if you are rejected you would have to reapply with a smaller asking amount.) I am attending a community college and I was told that because they don't offer housing to students they aren't offering as much money as a 4 year institution would. Which is bogus. Just because the school isn't offering housing doesn't mean I'm not living anywhere. So yes loan awards limits are set by the school.

Thank you!! I've taken micro a&p2 and psych already. The packet was sent in the mail yesterday, so once I get it I'll know more about what I'll have to do and buy. I feel like this is a new beginning in my life! I'm so excited that this is happening!! Yay!!

I GOT ACCEPTED TODAY!!! Thank god the waiting game is OVER. I feel so great right now. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Got an email around 11:00 and made my phone calls and ahhhhh! I'm so happy!! Good luck to everyone still waiting! Keep your hopes up, I did and good things came my way. Not to say I wasn't sad and worried at times (...a lot of the time), but overall you have to keep yourself motivated. Bought a bottle of champagne today and I intend to celebrate... Thank you all for your info and support over this year and last years posts. Can't wait to see you in the fall!!

I called the nvcc office today, they've gotten up to number 7. And there are now 13 instead of 15 students registered for nursing 101, which makes sense since 2 have been pulled off the waitlist. The waiting continues...

Has anyone gotten a phone call yet? I'm going to call the office tomorrow to see how far they have gotten on the waitlist. It just that June 1st was the deadline to register for nursing 101 and it was also the deadline for both accepted and waitlisted students to get ap2, micro and psych completed. So I thought that the powers that be would have gotten everything figured out and sent out phone calls by now. Also there are still 15 spots left for nursing 101. What is going on!? Is anyone in the same boat as me! I can't stand this waiting anymore. I want to be able to enjoy my summer, and not spend half of it worrying and waiting for this to happen. Not knowing is torture.

That has been my mantra lately... stay positive! Ya know, I didn't even think that the course search may not be reflective of the number of students because they dropped the course. I think its pretty close though, otherwise the course would close once capacity is reached. I cant' wait for that phone call, I wonder if they will go out this week of next. Oih the waiting!

Alright so it is 11:00pm on June 1st...15 people left to register for nursing 101 at nvcc. Now I'm starting to second guess that this deadline to register is bogus. I'm really scared to get my hopes up that there are enough spots left for me and that I will get a phone call next week to accept my seat. Do we know for a fact that students are withdrawn from the program if they don't register and pay the fees by June1st? Help!!! Freaking out here!!!

It's possible. Nvcc is at 19 for the 8:30 class and 1 for the 11:00 class. I bet some people waited to register until after orientation today. This is gonna be a long week.

25 seats are left for the nvcc program!!! 2 for the 11:00 class and 23 for the 8:30 class. The registration deadline is on Saturday!! We should know then how many seats are left and get a call soon. Fingers crossed!!!

HelenaHandbasket, you should call CCC to find out how far they've gotten on the list. When I called nvcc, they were very helpful and gave me a lot of info and good advice. They want everyone to succeed and do well. And I think it shows that you still want the spot, it shows tenacity. Besides, each week you are that much closer than you were at number 8. I was number 10, they called in 5 waitlisted, now I am that much closer. There will be people who have accepted their seats and will change their mind and decline it later. (At least that's how I would've done it if I was still waiting to hear back from another school.) Keep your head up.

Thanks BrittniLPN-RN! That totally makes sense too, although there is time in the summer to replace a bad a&p grade, there may not be open spots in a class . Not that I'm wishing anything bad on anyone else, I just think its good to think about all the possible outcomes. I was also wondering when the deadline to sign up for nursing101 is this year. I read in another year's ccnp thread that if students aren't signed up for or have paid their fees/dues for the class that the seat would have to be given away? Is that true and does anyone know what the deadline date is?

Oh boy! I'm keeping my head up. I taking it as I was number 10 and now I am number 5. I'm sure some people accept their seat then later decline it instead of declining it right away, which is what the first 5 did. People are stilling waiting on other schools to make their decision. Taking the seat right away ensures they will have a backup plan already in place, rather than being left with nothing if the other school doesn't take them.
