Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2011

Published

Hello all,

It's almost that time of year again! I'm applying to the 2011 class which the application period begins this November 1st. We have two months to prepare our applications! Anyone else applying? I've seen the support the last year's class has with this sort of thread and I figured there should be one started for 2011 applicants. What is your TEAS score? GPA? A&P I grade? What were the averages that the 2010 applicants had and they are now starting the fall 2010 program?? Good luck!!!

i am sorry!! yes, the 17th! i am getting awfully confused with all of the dates i need to keep in order! sorry about that!

I justed Signed up for my CPR course, looks like I am taking on the 16th at Capital. I was to late registering and the 1st was full! :crying2: Is anyone else taking it the 16th?

where else can we register besides Capital? The 1st is full and the 16th I'm unavailable! I know we need it by July 1st...

This is just a reminder to anyone who is interested in a "meet and greet" tonight at Panera in Enfield. I will be there a little late - about 6:30 since I have a last minute eye doctor appt - woke up with my eyes swollen to slits and I don't have allergies! Yikes....

Here was my original post...

A few of us have picked a date for a meet and greet before our orientation on June 17th at Capital.

We will be meeting at Panera in Enfield, CT on Monday evening, May 2, 2011 at 6 p.m. If you take 91 (N or S) it is exit 48 - directly off the exit - you will see the Enfield Square. When facing the mall Panera will be dead ahead at the main entrance to the left of Target.

I'm sure we will recognize each other by the smiles on our faces! We look forward to meeting everyone, see you soon!

I registered at GWCC today. It was a really good experience. My first stop was the VA office. I found out I have more VA benefits than previously told. :D Someone from that office walked me to the Financial Aid office, they were working on my award this morning and gave me the amount!! :D It was a lot more than I was planning on. So much that I won't have to work full-time now!! :D I asked the bookstore if they had a book list for NUR 101, they said check back in September?? Financial Aid gave me a folder with information. One thing was that books can not be purchased until August 15th for continuing students; new students must attend classes prior to purchasing books?? The bookstore account is for the Long Wharf campus.

I am registered and ready to go!!

I did not have such a positive experience at GWCC financial aid. Because I have a prior bachelor's degree and some loans from previous schooling, they will not allow me grants or even to take federal student loans. I am well under the federal government's limit for student loans, but GWCC has their own loan cap (which would not even cover 2 years there if you were taking loans for tuition, fees and books). So I am not allowed to take any loans for GWCC, and this rule is not well published (or of course I would have applied to a different school!!!). So.....I am going to request to switch to the spring semester to try to save the money myself between now and then. Are there people starting in spring who want to switch to fall??

I think there are people interested in switching. I'm sorry about your financial aid situation. Ihope it works out for you.

For those accepted to GWCC, have your registered for NUR 101 yet? What time are your classes and clinicals if they told you. They said that there is an evening program at GWCC but I can't seem to find out if it actually a "true" evening program!! TIA!

I am registered for NUR 101 classes according to commnet are:

MR04:00 pm-05:55 pm

TW07:00 am-02:00 pm

TW03:00 pm-10:00 pm

I asked about the 7-2 class and was told, "it is only an option" hmm I'm skeptical as ever though ?

Those are day clinicals 7-2 and are optional (I highly recommend days over eves). Lecture is from 4-6p. The days will change once you get into 3rd semester.

Do any of you know which schools tend to be least/most competitive? I am waitlisted at GW and starting to think I might just apply to another school and commute because I've heard GW is one of the most competitive because it has a night program. Any & all input would be appreciated! :-)
