Hello all,
It's almost that time of year again! I'm applying to the 2011 class which the application period begins this November 1st. We have two months to prepare our applications! Anyone else applying? I've seen the support the last year's class has with this sort of thread and I figured there should be one started for 2011 applicants. What is your TEAS score? GPA? A&P I grade? What were the averages that the 2010 applicants had and they are now starting the fall 2010 program?? Good luck!!!
Well my friend apparently got a letter/email saying her application was incomplete. It was because she didn't include her AP 2 grade but that doesn't make sense considering that's the only course that's allowed to be in progress. Come to think about it its more than likely the fact that she didnt pass the teas wjich would be an incomplete requirement. From my understanding if you don't hear anything that means your application is complete. Also I take this as they're finishing up reviewing so it shouldn't be long now. Kinda makes sense that they let those with incomplete applications know first. Still feeling bad for my friend she's gotta better gpa than me... Deans list... All around hard worker. Terrible cuz we were supposed to do the whole nursing thing together. But then again I'm no shoe in so we shall see. Good luck to all. Keep the info coming.
I have to make a comment on here- after reading these posts. I have a few questions.
I applied last year for Gateway and was waitlisted- never got in. I received an email when they received my application and all of my statuses said MET. However, they have not updated dates- they are still all from last year (when it wasn't electronic). Does anyone else have this too?
I know they receieved my appliation because this year I switched my school of choice around- and it is reflective online.
Second, while it is nice to be optomistic about being accepted- the reality is its tough- I dont care what anyone tells you at orientation.
I have been waitlisted for two years now. I have a 89.9 TEAS Score, a 2.9 GPA (because I was stupid and took Organic Chemistry for no reason at all and received a D), and I have an A in A&P I. Not only was I waitlisted last year, but I was in the 40's! I didn't stand a chance!
Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do at this point except keep applying and hoping after five years my grade will fall off. I have taken every non-nursing course needed for the program.
Good luck, just wanted to spread my knowledge of the process from last year. Its all well and good to hope- but always have some sort of Plan B!
GREAT! Looks like I will most likely be on the waitlist....
Mixy, just curious what your stats are if you don't mind sharing (and anyone else who is waiting to hear!). I know we're ALL a bit obsessive about comparing our own stats to the rest of the applicant pool to see where we stand. I haven't applied yet, waiting until next cycle as I have a few more pre-req's to take...
I heard that the average GPA of accepted rank students was 3.7; and the average for lottery slots was 3.1
Of course this COULD change next application cycle as they will be filling more seats based on rank and less by lottery... so the cutoff next year MAY be a little lower (not by much, I imagine... seems like nursing admissions pretty cut-throat, haha)
my stats are not bad, but they are not good enough to get in on rank. my ap1 grade was an a, my teas is an 87%, and my gpa is 3.34. i have received a's in all of the pre-req's (the sciences taken this past year). unfortunately however when i was getting my associates degree just out of high school, i had no career or goals in place and did not do my best work. so my english comp 101 grade counts towards my nursing gpa despite the fact that it is over 5 years old and brought down my gpa significantly. oh well... not much i can do about it now, except sit back, and hope i win the lottery :)
may i ask your stats too?

well i am in the same boat! i didn't take my education seriously straight out of high school, and have some bad grades that are haunting me now. i'm trying to retake a couple that are in the nursing program so that i can pull up my gpa.
what's killing me is that 2 years ago i enrolled in an online "scam school" without knowing any better. they were 5 week courses, year-round, and they would automatically enroll you for courses without your consent. so during the summer, i couldn't take classes b/c i have kids at home -- and by the time the enrollment people actually got around to dropping my classes, it was too late and i had to take two f's. so that brings down my "last 5 years" gpa quite considerably.
as of right now my cumulative gpa is a 3.0, with retaking two old classes from 10 years ago, it will pull my cumulative gpa up to a 3.4. my current gpa at my school is a 3.93... without the grades from that stupid online school, my cumulative gpa is a 3.8... so it's definitely a major bummer. the worst thing is that the courses that i took in the online school, are not offered in the ct comm coll system, so it's not like i can re-take them. worst case scenario, i go back to the stupid online school and re-take those classes if i don't get in next year.
i haven't taken the teas, since starting this month they moved to version v and will no longer accept versions 3/4. i'm in human bio right now with a 102 average, and speaking with the professor, it looks like i'll have no issue pulling an a in a+p in the fall.
i really wish that i had direction straight out of high school... the mistakes of my past are haunting me now, and it's disappointing. i was always very smart, just really lacked direction and organization skills. i have it now... all of my current grades are stellar.
