I still want to voice my opinion. Lately, I've been reading alot of post discussing "A" nursing students verses "C" nursing students. It breaks my heart that there are students that are so hung up on grades that they rather want an "A" nurse taking care of them over a "C" nurse. Come on now ! When was the last time a patient asked you what your GPA was ? When was the last time as a patient yourself you asked your nurse what her GPA was ? Nursing school is stressful enough and while I strive everyday to make A's on exams I don't. I started out with A's and now I'm hanging around with high C's. Don't me wrong, I take NS and my grades very seriously... the only difference is that I don't let my grades whether A's or C's determine what kind of nurse I'll be. I graduate in a few weeks and I'm not sure if I'll still have my above 3.0 average, but I tell you one thing I'm still going to hold my head up high and take care of patients to the best of my ability . I'll still be a nurse and no less of a nurse then my classmates that got A's through nursing school. These are nursing exams, the real test starts when you start working and providing competent care to patients. So I'm saying enough is enough ! To you students who are A students I want to give you a big :clphnds: I know you deserve your A and worked hard for it. For you students who are " C " students I want to give you a big :clphnds: as well and you also worked hard for you grade as well. No one goes into nursing school wanting to make C's all the time, however it happens. I haven't met one student that said" I'm studying my butt off for that C. Students now days are so caught up in grades instead of the true meaning of nursing. :crying2:When my pt. comes in with cardiac arrest and is in alot of pain he won't care what grades I got, he cares about my compassionate and me providing good quality care. Come on A and C students can't we all get back to what nursing really is about.A nurse is a nurse . Once you pass that nclex you are a nurse:nurse:
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I'm done you all can yell at me now. :sofahider
Ok let me rephrase my statement "It seems like SOME A nursing students tend to stereotype for some uknown reason"
In my opinion everyone struggles in Nursing school,A,B,C students,no exception except maybe than one 1% of the class which constist of auditory learners or the ones with exellent memory skills, but truthfully it never cease to amaze me the arrogance of some nursing students who believe that they know everything and never struggle with their clinicals skills not even once, wow Noble prize for them!
"Success is the attainment of a predetermined goal"My goal is a 3.8 GPA.
3.5-3.8 I'll be disappointed
I plan on pursuing CRNA eventually and need a high GPA to be competitive.
Yeah but in NS they teach us that personality type A people (perfectionalists) tend to have more health problems.
My health not my career comes first.

Also excuse me but I have noticed that usually it is the A students who tend to start this kind of threats,I guess we B and C students are more laid back about our lives.
Being an A student doesn't mean that one has a type A personality and/or health problems. One can have a type A personality and be a B/C student in nursing school. I don't really think that you can equate personality type with grades and mastery of material.
Also, this thread was started by someone who was once an A student and is now a self-proclaimed B/C student.
type a individuals can be described as impatient, excessively time-conscious, insecure about their status, highly competitive, over-ambitious, business-like, hostile, aggressive, incapable of relaxation in taking the smallest issues too seriously; and are somewhat disliked for the way that they're always rushing and demanding other people to serve to their standards of satisfaction.[1] they are often high and over-achieving workaholics who multi-task, drive themselves with deadlines, and are unhappy about the smallest of delays. because of these characteristics, type a individuals are often described as "stress junkies." type b individuals, in contrast, are described as patient, relaxed, and easy-going
for some reason some of the a students posting in this thread sound very similar.
This is becoming ridiculous. Some of us have the ability to earn 4.0s semester after semester while happy and healthy, and some do not. Students have different abilities, priorities, demands on our time and resources, and personal situations.
To keep arguing that the less accomplished are superior is just strange and not seeing the forest for the trees, though.

But an A and C student are both accomplishing the same goal just with different grades.
I will be trying hard to maintain A's in Nursing School, and if I do maintain those A's I can guarantee that I will NOT have the attitude seen by some in this thread. I am very thankful that not all people behave in such a manner and have such poor attitudes.
Common sense will tell you that not all A students will behave a certain way or even most, and not all C students behave a certain way, or most.
The constant tit for tat in this thread and assumptions are coming from BOTH parties, and both parties are trying to justify it.
So in the end, BOTH parties are putting down and accusing others by doing the SAME thing they are apparently against. Ironic really, or maybe not.
FYI, in my post I am not saying ALL posters are doing this.
I guess we B and C students are more laid back about our lives.
Arrrgh! Why do people say things like this? I have a 4.00 and have a pretty good balance in my life and I may hold myself to high standards but I am not the definition of a type A person. I just dont get the animosity...who cares.
I also think that in this economy people are more rigid about grades and maintaining a certain GPA because it is more of a selling point in this environment.
....
And a few posts back someone felt that my post was in response to them...I didnt read the whole thread word for word because Im on vacation, but I think my response was more general and not pointed at anyone's response.

All 'A' students do not stereotype. Also, I'm tempted to note that overall, 'A' students are probably less likely to say "all" about anything.
