visa screen certificate is one of the requirements for immigrant visa.to get a visa certificate, you need to pass the nclex and english exam(toefl and tse or ielts).they will also ask for some records like transcript, diploma, etc.you can check the list of requirements in cgfns website

visa screen is a requirement of immigration to prove that you meet their requirements Pass CGFNS exam/NCLEX and assess transcripts and schooling. Remeber though to work in the US as a nurse you have to pass NCLEX even though you can get visa screen with CGFNS exam. Some states require CGFNS exam but not always necessary

so if one passes nclex+english exams, one can apply for the visascreen=immigrant visa?

or pass cgfns exam also to obtain for a visascreen certificate=immigrant visa?

so it means that if the state that your applying doesn't need cgfns, then you may just take the nclex rn exam. once you pass it you will apply for the visa screen certificate in order to obtain a immigrant visa right?

tnx

yes. if the state doesn't require cgfns exam what is the point on taking it. to work in the us as a rn you have to pass nclex

hope this helps. some agencies try telling you you need both but this is not true

visa screen certificate is obtained thru cgfns once you apply for it and have passed either the cgfns exam or the nclex exam, and the required english exams.

it has nothing to do with immigration, or the green card, other than being required to be presented.

immigration requires an entirely different process and a vsc does not guarantee anyone that they will be able to obtain a green card.

so, my question is. if i am scheduled to take the nclex on february 2007; should i wait until i get the results that i passed nclex and then apply for vissascreen certificate. or can i start the process of applying, send toefl (passing required score--of course--), transcripts from my home country nursing school--no license from home country-- and later send nclex result and therefore usa nursing license?

and by doing this am i going to reduce time to get the vsc? rather than waiting until getting nclex passing score result in order to star the process for vsc,and me start sending already granted documents thus have a open file ready to be reviewed after fulfilling all requirements?

any suggestions, advice, ideas, etc.

thanks.

It is okay to start the process now, if you want, since you already have a date scehduled for the NCLEX exam. Remember that the VSC applicaiton is only good for one year now, it used to be two years. Looks like you will be able to get things done during that time.

Hi. I don't know if I'm butting in, but I graduate from nursing school this December (in California). I was told that we should be able to sit for the boards (NCLEX-RN) around February of 07. When would be the best/earliest time for me to apply for a Visa Screen certificate? I have received all my college education (as well as high school and etc.) in California.

If you are an american citizen or a permanent resident you have no need for a visa screen.

Yes, I am aware of that. And I am neither.
