I got the luck of the draw when i registered for classes this fall. The only clinical spot open was 7:00pm-7:30am. So I'm wondering if I will get the same experience as day shifters??? And also is there any advice anyone can give me about what to expect during my preceptorship???
You are lucky to have a clinical spot. Night shift in many situations can be ideal for students, time to ask questions and get answers. Information can sink in, instead of floating past you without your notice. No matter what shift, you will be encountering an atmosphere that will be showing you what it is like to be on the job, so don't think you are being shortchanged.
I'm just starting my nursing program next month. We'll start clinicals in September. I work full time and have young kiddos, so I'm thankful my school has an evening/weekend program that I was accepted into. Our clinicals this semester are on Saturdays (mostly) from 2:30 to 10:30pm. It isn't night shift, but I'm looking forward to the time and I'm so exicted to learn everything they can teach me!!

Nights rock.....the nurses will appreciate your presence and will have the "time" there are so many less distractions.
