RCC Spring 2019

Published

Hello all! I haven't seen a page for Spring 2019 hopefuls yet, so I'm creating this one. If anyone has any comments/concerns/questions please post!

To start: RCC is in the early stages of developing a concurrent BSN program starting estimated Fall 2019. From what I remember at the info session, it will be about $15k and done through either CSUF or CSUSB. They are hoping to have 50% concurrent enrollment initially, and 100% later on. They are supposed to be meeting later this year (October-ish) to discuss it. I'm excited to learn more! It's definitely worth keeping up on if any of you are interested in pursuing your BSN afterwards.

Did anyone get accepted to other schools?

Wow thank you so much for all of this information! Super helpful!

And I took a risk and only applied to RCC since I didn't want a far commute and very thankful it worked out!

That's awesome

How is everyone getting along with their complio requirements?

Thankfully I got a physical 3 months ago so I just need to take the paper work into my dr and have him fill it out, and then I'm pretty sure I'm up to date on all immunizations. And then I just need to get my TB test. How are yours coming a long?

I tried finding my immunization records this summer to no avail. I am out of state through the 31st, so I decided to get started on everything here because I was feeling paranoid. I'm glad I did, because I ended up needing to re-do my MMR! I'm also not able to get my physical cleared because the provider I went to just recently opened their clinic and they don't have a stamp available. D: For the drug screen and BLS I'm just going to wait until I get home. I have already been to this clinic 3x this week (4 if the polio titer result comes in today) and feel terrible having my SO's family chauffeur me around. I would strongly suggest you get the titers done asap. I guess it's a common thing to happen with the MMR, from what I was reading.

I feel like they dried me out getting blood for those titers, but everything's great so far! I had to start the Hep B series, but they mentioned durung intake day that many of us probably would be, as long as we show proof that we are doing them. Still have to finish the TB 2-step, but nearly there!

I feel like it's been such a fiasco getting my stuff done, lol! I'm getting my 2nd MMR today, and hopefully will be cleared to register by the weekend. Since we didn't get our IDs last week, I wonder how they are going to fit it into the bootcamp schedule? Imagine how long it would take to do the 100+ students, or however many there are of us..

I can only imagine, but considering that the bootcamp is two full days, we'll manage. There's roughly 80 of us and any more are the alternates. I wouldn't know if they will have to take pictures as well.

Hey guys, thank God, I ended up getting in. I don’t have facebook so I’ve created a Slack group that anyone can feel free to join. I think it would be a good way to communicate seeing as though I am one of the students that doesn’t really know anyone. So if you’re in the same boat, feel free to join the slack group. They have apps for Android, iOS, and PC/Mac.

I’ve set the invite link to expire after 7 days just to avoid spammers etc...

Hey guys, is it true that they only accept the first passing teas score?

Yes. So they often advise applicants to take it elsewhere rather than the ones they invite to take the TEAS at RCC in case you're not confident about a high score. Not pass at RCC and they will have you take mandatory courses in areas where you performed poorly, then you will have to take the TEAS again.
