Hi!

Are you in the CEP or just the ADN?

I started as both. I had to drop during my second semester due to medical reasons. But I can still answer any questions.

Ahh, I see!

I just wanted to ask how the professors were for NRN 11 & your first semester at CSUSB, in regards to how they lecture & how their exams are formatted.

Also, I just wanted to ask, is the black lab coat absolutely required? Because we can't wear them in lab or clinical, so it isn't really necessary, or will they check for it?

As far as the Black lab coats: they are not required. But if you are walking to class in uniform you can only wear those for warmth. So when I was walking to class I would wear my black lab coat to class. Then take it off in class. If you are on Zoom and in uniform you can only wear the black lab coat. And yes they check. You can wear a black thermal under your uniform as well.
I loved CSUSB professor. She was amazing. You would have weekly assignments due however there was one time when it looked like I was going to be late. So I emailed her and she graciously gave me an extension. I ended up getting it submitted on time but having that grace was a relief.
N11- Very strict. There are no extensions. If it says hand written, then you hand write it. Yes they check all homework. They know if it is copy and paste. And yes…READ THE CHAPTERS. There are no short cuts. They write the test based off the books. This includes your clinical skills book. Read the intro (I would forget to read the intro sometimes and there would be test questions on it). If the professors repeated something, take note, it’s important. They will check your homework before class starts. If it is not done then you cannot be in class until it’s done. Do what they say and ask questions. Clear your schedule of everything else in life (I’m dead serious). You will only have time for school. Just remember: it’s not permanent ?

Ahh okay, cause ———————————————— had told us in boot camp that they had gotten a call from Dove that 2/3 of our class were canceling the lab coats, and that it was required ?

That's great, I really like the professors at CSUSB! Can I know what her exams are like? Are they more lecture-based, textbook, etc?

Ahh, I'm so nervous for N11. They were going over CNSL & KSA in boot camp, and it got pretty confusing. Do you have any tips in regards to handling reading/passports/etc? I saw that they assigned multiple chapters that need to be done in one week, and I was wondering how you handled reading them all each week?

Exams are both reading and lectures.

very important: Get a calendar that is monthly and daily.

So for schoolwork: I would go over all the dates that are listed and put down all the due dates for EVERYTHING in the semester on the monthly part. Then as soon as the passport was available I would break down how many pages per day to read. I would schedule my entire day and week as to what I need to do. I would schedule hour by hour, I would even schedule breaks. So schedule EVERYTHING.

I would email —————————————- as to why people are cancelling the black lab coats. If you give the professors your rationale, then they are apt to change things.

I would organize my passports weekly in binders.
Example: in one binder I would put exam 1 week 1-3 (or how ever many weeks are with in that exam) I would then create weekly sections and save the passport, homework,  and attitudes (extremely important to save) for that week. The final is cumulative.

so be organized, save everything, and schedule everything.

Thanks for all the tips!

In regards to the CSUSB professor,  I was wondering how are the exams? Do you suggest reading all the assigned chapters as well? I have Professor----------------------- this semester!

You definitely need to read all assigned chapters for both programs. There is no getting around it.
