RCC Nursing Spring 2023 (ADN)

Published

Hello everyone,

If you are submitting an application July-August for RCC’s CEP or traditional ADN Spring 2023 & you have questions please feel free to ask away. Let’s help each other get through this application process & eventually through the entire program(:

How specific? Correct me if im wrong but this is just for the CEP though right?

dang rip im still in progress for gov oh well. I think I applied to both programs so hopefully I can still get into the traditional 2 year ADN.

yeah, just for CEP. I believe it is only Poli Sci 1 (american government poli sci). I had poli sci 3 (comparative government) from another college and they said it was not valid.

It’s just for CEP. If you applied to both but didn’t take those 2 classes then automatically your application gets pulled out of the CEP bunch & are only qualified for traditional so you still have a chance(:

Good luck to everyone that is taking the TEAS test tomorrow. Would some of you let us know how it went and what you used to study? Thank you!!

Hi everyone. Does anyone know the point cutoff, or what it has been in the past?  Also, I have all of my classes done except micro. I’m going to be completing it this fall and when I asked if it was fine, I was told that we are allowed to have one class in progress. Is anyone in the same situation? I’m just so nervous. It’s my first time applying to a nursing programs!!

There really isn’t a point cut off because it varies every semester depending on the students applying. You’re allowed to have a class in progress during the fall term & be able to apple for fall23. If you are applying for spring23 I think you’re only allowed to have a class in progress summer22. The fall grade won’t be posted before they make spring23 decisions.

Hi Mary, I found Science with Susann on Youtube in addition to khan academy and crash course most helpful for the science section along with my personal notes. I really struggled with the english language portion and it can be quite a tricky section even if you are familiar with grammar. I know a lot of people recommend Carolyn mcallister but to be quite honest her info is not in-depth enough. I know some people swear by her but IDK if it was the TEAS 7 change or what but it just is not enough. I would recommend grammerly website along with bluebook grammer online for ELU. The reading portion was pretty straight forward if you brush up on topic/theme etc. For math reviewing some area/geometry and fractions would be great, it is very fraction heavy. I thankfully did not get very many conversions but still brush up on them.

I did purchase the Mometrix book but only used it for the practice test. The style of the Mometrix book is for someone who learns just by reading, which is not me. Lastly, I would recommend to purchase the A & B practice test off the ATI website. The test are very similar in terms of difficulty and can help you gauge what you should focus on. Anyway, sorry for the rant, hope this info is helpful to someone! I studied for about three weeks and managed to get a whopping 84% not what I was shooting for but yeah.

Hey everyone, just wanted to give a little PSA that applications for Chaffey and SBVC open next month. I know the requirements vary a bit but just wanted to put it out there in case any of you would like to apply to more schools.

I currently have 49 points and I did bad on the TEAS, I got a 70.3% ? what are my chances of getting in at RCC? IDK the TEAS point cut off, I never went to the TEAS workshop.

Hi! I bought the comprehensive study package on the ATI website for $199. I know it's alot but I got an 85% with only 5 days of studying so it was worth it for me. It had 4 practice tests and a pretest to see where you stand. It helped a lot with reading and math. I got 89% on reading and 92% on math just by studying from the practice tests. The English part was a hit or miss with the practice tests. The practice tests were more focused on sentence structure and punctuation while the actual test was more on knowing what an adverb, verb, transitions, etc, are. The science portion I recommend just studying the basics of each body system. I watched professor Yu on Youtube and she was EXTREMELY helpful. There were a lot of Chemistry based questions too and professor Yu has videos on explaining that too. I binged watched her videos on body systems that I didn't feel confident on and her Chemistry videos on the day of the test. I'm glad I did because I had questions on the test that she went over in her videos. 100% recommend checking her channel out. Good luck on your TEAS!!

Hello, I decide to take the TEAS online. Did anyone take it online before, do you have any tips to share? Also, how long will it take to have the score sent to school? Thank you.

Points always vary from application period to application period. It really just depends on the average points of people applying. Last application period the points were averaging in the high 70s and many people were in the 80. The cohort before that was in the mid 70s I think. It would be a good idea to talk to an advisor to see if they recommend some good ideas to boost your points. Don’t give up! Apply to multiple programs if it’s something you can do… best of luck!

Hello,  I asked one of advisors at RCC if they receive the score right away if you take the TEAS online at home and they said some students say it takes a couple of days and others say it sends the score instantly.
