RCC Nursing Spring 2024 (ADN & CEP))

Published

Hello everyone,

If you are submitting an application from June to July for RCC's CEP or traditional ADN for Spring 2024, then I encourage you to ask on THIS thread. My hope is that this thread can be a great resource for fellow applicants -- I know how much I appreciated having words of wisdom and fellow peers as I apply. Let's support each other as much as possible.

A little about me: I'm taking Bio 50B and Soc 1 this Spring, and I have yet to take the TEAS. I have a bachelor's degree, special circumstances, dosage calc class, and I'm bilingual.

Hello, smallorange5, thank you for starting this thread! I'm planning on applying to both RCC's ADN Program and CEP. I'm soo excited and anxious, I know we all just want to be accepted so we can officially start nursing school. This is my first time applying to nursing programs, I'm finishing up my last couple of prereqs this Spring. Microbiology and Intro to Sociology. I'm also taking medical terminology and pharmacy calculations which I believe is equivalent to RCC's dosage calculations. It was so hard to schedule a counseling appointment with them ? LOL! But I stayed up one night and got one after 12am. I'm gonna receive an AS after this Spring, I'm bilingual, have special circumstances, and trying to get any relevant healthcare work and volunteer experience paperwork sorted out/ready before the applications opens. I haven't taken TEAS yet either. Ugh IDK, I don't have high hopes, but im just excited to be at this point/finally applying so really grateful for that and looking forward to the application process.

An education advisor told me that the cutoff for Fall '23 was 70 points with an alternate cutoff being 69 points. Spring '23 had a cutoff of 76 points for the traditional RN and 71-72 for the ADN/BSN CEP.

Additionally, I went to an application Q&A and one of the ED advisors said that generally you're in a good position if you have a 3.5 science GPA and a 3.5 cumulative GPA in addition to a 78% or above on the TEAS. Those are where a majority of the points come from. Also, typically RCC gets 600-800 a semester, but don't be discouraged!

Oh wow, it's cool that they had that info to give, it gives a good perspective to see how each application period differed. I'm curious to know what the Spring '24 cutoff points are going to look like!

Okay nice, those are good GPA averages and if we haven't taken the TEAS yet, I think we should focus on doing our best to score as high as possible on it. And wow, they receive a really high number of applicants! Some of the other ADN programs have up to 300 applicants and I've even heard that Long Beach City College receives up to 1,000 :o. Thanks for sharing all of this good info!

I'm applying to the ADN program for Spring. I have 52 points prior to taking the TEAS.  Hoping to be invited to take it in September for free. I was told if you have a 3.5 science GPA or above, you will most likely be invited to take it for free. Good luck, everyone!

Good luck!! I'm somewhere around there too. RCC also invites students to take it on august 3rd especially for CEP applicants.

Hi everyone!

I'm applying to the program with a 4.0 in general education courses, as well as a 3.7 in sciences. I got an 87% on my TEAS and I have a bachelor's degree. My total points are 76 with the TEAS exam included. I'll be applying to a bunch of schools, hoping that I get in somewhere! Good luck, everyone!!

Awesome! An 87 on the TEAS is impressive, what did you do to score well?

Ugh, thank you! I feel like it's so low compared to everyone I see who is getting 90%+. I studied rigorously for about a month. I just used Mometrix, made quizlets from the material, watched their videos, watched YouTube videos, and did practice exams. It REALLY helped me with the math section - I got a 97% on math which really helped my overall score.

Haha we all strive for +90 but I think you can rest assured. I know a friend that was accepted as an alternate and she had 68 points ? And the cutoff for fall '23 was 70!! In my mind, I'm just thinking that as long as I'm 1 point above the cutoff then I'm no different from the person that has 100 points
