RCC Nursing Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I thought I'd start this thread for anyone who is applying for the RN program at Riverside City College for Fall 2019! Let's all chat! :)

I applied to the CEP and listed poli sci as in progress, as I'm taking it this winter. I figured I'd cross my fingers and do that just in case they have room. I have taken another government class that satisfies the ADN requirement, but the CEP app requires a government class AND poli sci. I know this isn't ideal for the CEP, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I guess we'll see. Do you guys know when we'd find out if we're accepted or denied to the program (post TEAS)? I know we have a long wait before we find out anything, but just curious. Are you guys applying anywhere else?

Yeah it honestly doesn't make sense that we can't have at lease one class in progress. Plus I have my AS degree so I thought maybe that would change things, but I spoke to Steve & he pretty much said there's no point in applying for the CEP =/ but good luck! Maybe you will have a chance if there are spots left. I think we will find out sometime in March! Way better than June lol. I'm also applying to Chaffey. I want to apply to Mt. Sac but idk where I can take the HESI. RCC is my first choice though!

Yeah, I have my AA, too. Such a bummer that it doesn't count for at least a couple of points. CEP would be ideal, but I'm not sweating it too much since there are other BSN pathways still available to us. I haven't applied anywhere else, but I'm looking into alternatives. I've had my heart and mind set on RCC for years.

Finally!!! We can start posting on AllNurses.com again. How was everyones holidays?

Anyways, did you guys receive an email notification about your applications yet?

Hi XT2RN_19!

I submitted my application on Dec 20th, and I received an email on Jan 8th confirming that my application was received.

That email also said that applicants with the highest science GPA will receive an invite in late January to take the TEAS at RCC in February. Acceptance or denial letters will be mailed in early March. Definitely different timeline compared to past posts from Fall 2018.

Hi guys I spoke to the nursing counselor. She said they will know by March who’s in the program and will send out acceptance/denials in April at the latest.

Yes, I got my email confirmation on the 3rd! I like that we’ll know the final decisions in March. That’s not very far away at all.

I got my application confirmation email on January 8th so now I’m just waiting for the TEAS invitation email ? have you all started studying yet? If so, what are you using to study?

I keep refreshing my email hoping for an invite, but I know they said we'll receive one by late Jan. It's still probably a little early. I bought the ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 on Amazon and have been reviewing that. It gets great reviews, so I'm hopeful. As I get closer to the exam, I'll probably buy the online practice tests that are available on the TEAS website.

I just took my TEAS yesterday at another facility. I scored a 90%. What really helped me were the practice tests through ATI. I bought the smart package which comes with the book and online lessons/exams. I liked the way they would personalize it based on what I was having problems with. I studied for a good month, but really focused in during the last 2 weeks. The practice tests were definitely a little harder than the actual test. The Mometrix book was also helpful!

Wow, 90% is amazing! Congrats! I've been studying here and there and am planning to really keep my head down and study hard in the couple of weeks leading up to the test. I'm trying to put my focus on my Poli Sci class right now. How were the math and grammar portions? I'm most nervous about those ? I've scored A's in those classes, but I need to brush up on the differences between adverbs, pronouns, adjectives, etc. It's also been a little while since my last algebra class.

That is so awesome! Congrats! Do you mind sharing what your scores were on the practice exams? I took practice exam A without doing any studying & got a 76% so I’m hoping that the actual exam is easier. Between that & studying hard for the next 3 weeks, I am hoping to score at least a 90% as well lol
