Quota/year?

Published

Hi all, I met a healthcare recruiter last week, passed the pre-qualifying test, submitted my CV for review. I was told that the quota for med-surg nurses for this year for army is almost filled, which means no hiring till oct 09 when next fiscal year kicks in. I am not very clear about this...does this mean my recruiter has met his hiring quota for the year, or is their a specific numeric quota for army reserve for each year...also, is their any way i can still hope to be hired in this fiscal year...?? appreciate your rsponse guys, I owe a lot to this forum!!

Well I guess we'll just have to see what the future brings. I hope that being a new grad won't mean getting passed over for someone with experience if it gets more competitive. Of course I understand why they would go that route- but there is already much pressure on being a new grad having to compete with other grads before throwing veteran nurses in the mix.

hi! we were all new grads once too! I don't think that they would be seclusional to one group or the other as both groups have much to offer. I think perhaps you are worrying too much! the only thing that I can say is try to get some certifications done in the mean time ---ACLS, TNCC, ECCO make yourself more marketable.

The freeze is only for Med Surge Nursing. As of right now specialty nursing (to include MANVI) should not be affected. Also, you may not need to wait till oct as they are placing the nurses on an order of merit list so if a slot comes available sooner you can be selected. The sooner you apply the better to get on the list sooner. I hope this helps.

ravneet, new user here with limited privaledges. Anyway. MAVNI is a project from the entire recruiting command with AMEDD slots. That is above the accessions done by AMEDD already and are reserved for specific category of applicants. I am not sure how many nursing slots they have in the program but if you need more guidance try going to the army website and chatting with one of the cyber recruiters they may have more info. Keep your chin up, it'll be well worth it!

Thanks Ameddrep, I just tried the chat, the recruiters aren't very familiar with the details of this program. I emailed my healthcare recruiter to double check if the MAVNI recruitment can still be done beyond the regular army quota. Lets see...

Good Luck. It is a new program so I am sure there will be a lot of ??'s throughout the process. At the very least, I would try to get my application in as early as possible to get high up on the order of merit list as I could.

I spoke with my recruiter today who said we are still waiting to here something back from my packet which was supposed to be boarded in February, he said there should be about 20 slots left... is this just untrue or what?

"The anc is pretty much full."

Can you elaborate on that? Is there specific nurses they are looking for such as Critical Care experienced nurses vs. New Grads?

Kind of weird to think that they are pretty much full when you have recruiters out there humping it to get RN's.
