"On your unit, what are your duties as CHARGE NURSE?"

Published

How does being in charge impact your shift??

Do you feel an extra burden of responsibility?

Some units I have worked on had numerous additional duties

as the charge nurse.

Others, I only had to make the patient care assignments.

What kind of unit have you worked in the past or present - -

and, do you mind sharing what your additional duties were

as the charge nurse???

I've always wondered why days can't take 10 minutes to make the place look presentable for us.

:uhoh3:

Charge for us is 5 duckies more an hour. Your(all charges)own office with PC and email. Some charges on weekend crew make additional 5 for weekends not counting weekend shift differential or nite diff. Man, it adds up real quick.

Usually no patients, but if do they give the easiest ones.

No I'm not a recruiter. :chuckle

How large is your tele unit???

I haven't seen a tele unit without a trained monitor tech in many years.

Anyone else working tele without a separate tech?

20 Telemetry beds on a 42 bed floor. Pretty unbelieveable no monitor techs, eh? I think so too. They'll wait unitl someone dies and they get sued before we get a monitor tech. Something bad always has to happen first.

and where do you work again?
