"Nurse Appreciation Week" gifts from employer

Nurses General Nursing

Well, ours started today. Very nice cooler that holds a 6-pack that has a netted beach bag on top. Hospital colors and logo, of course. Inside was a beach ball, a bottle huggie and a frisbee..all with hospital logo..lol. I'm impressed, though. This is the biggie, I'm sure..but just the beginning.

Anyone else wish to share their gifts????

25$gift certificate, lab coat with hosp logo, gift basket of goodies,

docs bought lunch for us one day from our favorite place, some dept bought of chocolates, it goes on and on. we are so blessed.

Need some ideas for tech week coming up soon.

Did your note holding roach clip have one of those neon feathers attached to it with leather?

True story: When I was in grammer school I had a whole collection of brightly colored feather and leather roach clips! I would always ask for one when my parents took us to the fair and such. I guess they thought that it would be easier to just buy their 1st grader yet another roach clip than try to explain what it was so they just kept buying them when I begged. I was probably the only kid on the block with a room full of drug paraphenalia! I had forgotton about those things until you mentioned your gift.

Oh my gosh, I remember those. We thought we were so cool in junior high, wearing those clipped to our purses. I had no idea back then what they were for! Ah, the innocence of youth!

Well, Nurses Week got skipped; this week we are doing everyone under Hospital Week. This morning I helped serve Ice Cream Sundaes for Night Shift (days will get them too). Tomorrow it's popcorn. Wednesday it's breakfast tacos for nights and hamburgers/hotdogs for days. Can't remember right off hand what Thursday is, but Friday I got signed up for the Employee Carnival with games in prizes. I have no idea what slot I'll be put in; with my luck it's the Ducking Booth (Happy Hospital Week; please duck your favorite administrative person)! :p

The hospital I work for got the worst Nurses week gift...a visit from JCAHO and all Nurses week plans delayed due to their visit!

I tried the gift idea I found online. I filled gift bags with lifesavers(because they do), snickers (so they will smile), marbles(for when they lose theirs), tissues (to dry the tears), candle (in honor of Florence), Sunbursts (for extra shine), hand lotion (for their own TLC). I decorated the candles with netting, satin ribbon and seed pearls and I decorated the gift bags the same way. I also included a gold heart shaped tac pin with "Nurse" on it. I have a staff of 15 nurses so this was ok for me to do. I used my own funds because I did not include this in my budget! You can be sure I will for next year. I would say the responses from 90% of the nurses was very positive. They got a kick out of the bag of goodies. I also included a card with the items listed and what they "stood for".

as i am out on medical leave, i have no idea what my hospital is doing. i have talked to a couple of people, including my boss, and no one has mentioned it. last year all the nurses got really nice quartz wristwatches and we had free dinner in the caf. so i am curious why i have heard nothing. of course, it could be that they have forgotten to tell me. out of sight, out of mind, ya' know...:o

i can relate-i had surgery a couple of weeks ago. i missed nurse's week at my hospital; i have no idea what was given, if anything....

btw....happy belated nurses week everyone!

For Nurses' week, the nurses got a plastic back massager that looks like it's made out of PVC pipe. I didn't even bother to sign one out. I have a husband for back massages.;)

For Hospital week, all employees got a green umbrella with the hospital logo on it. I may pick one up when I go back to work, although that's just what I need, an umbrella that looks like everyone else's umbrella. If I get one, I'll probably just lose it anyway. You never really own an umbrella, they just come in and go out of your life at will.

No it did not have feathers, but you know I have never known those things to be called anything but roach clips, One of the other nurses corrected us by calling them "alligator clips" But I remeber getting those feathers at the fair to, and usually had mine thrown out the window before we got home because I clipped them onto my little sister :) But we are still having a good time talking about our "roach clips" we have been joking that we complain so much about stress that the management is trying to give us a hint :)

As an employee of a small community hospital, the nurses got a gift certificate for a 10 minute H20 massage a the local tanning place. Last year it was a travel bag. As a home health nurse, I don't have the time to get the massage, and if I did, I would probably embarrass myself by falling asleep during the treatment ^_^

Happy Nurse's week to my fellow professionals!

Please make time for yourself or you'll end up being a client anyway!!!! Self care is something health care professionals deny themselves of so often. No wonder so many nurses are ill. Please, please do this & don't worry about falling asleep, most of my clients in my private practice fall asleep on my table & I think that is a compliment, they are comfortable enough to do so. :kiss

We got a pack of gum with a computer-generated appreciation certificate and lunch. Then we had a day of raffle prizes for nursing staff. We also had a questionaire that quizzed us about our administrative staff (all dept.s). Whoever gets all the answers right gets their name in a hat and whoever gets picked out of the hat gets a day off with pay. Last year, I won a day off with pay. That was nice.
