I've written about that a few times now on this site. I swore I'd never work Med-surge (swore that after having done that rotation in school). And probably not in that hospital either (not likely, anyway).
And not only did I end up working med-surge, but in the exact same unit of that less-favored hospital that I had the clinical in...and I love it there!
So.....never say never, or you may be eliminating a wonderful experience.
Peds. I swore up and down I'd never do it. Got roped into taking peds patients (worked at a community hospital, so we started taking pretty stable kids). Ended up liking it. Now work at a pediatric hospital. I'm now thinking I'll stick with peds as long as I'm working bedside. Not only is it easier on my back (as long as a I stay FAR away from rehab!), but it's sooooo nice not having to chase down my patients between their smoke breaks!

Okay, so who's said that and then ended up in that dept and discovered you love it and (at this point) wouldn't consider leaving? Just curious.
