So many people say they do not desire to remain a bedside Nurse , but would rather become a Nurse Practitioner , administrator, etc.Anyone feel the same? Why ?

Well for one the pay, hours, and working conditions are usually much better than being a bedside nurse. Bedside nursing while it does have great rewards isnt easy by a long shot. It can be very stressful and can really take a toll on your body.

I'd have to say I agree.

I loved being a bedside nurse, but conditions in the hospital where I worked were so bad that I literally feared for my license every day I was on duty. Not only that, I couldn't handle the physical demands any more......it was just too hard on my back, my joints, my feet.
Now I'm a nurse/manager, but I do some personal care whenever I get the chance. I give B12 injections, do a lot of wound care, and I love giving backrubs to my residents. It's nice to have the time to do the kind of nursing I went into the profession for!

Unfortunately you have to have working or clinical hours doing patient care to be anNP.
