Quit While in Orientation (New grad)

Hey everyone,

So, as the title says... I am a new grad and just quit my first nursing job with less than 2 weeks on orientation. Just a little background, my first nursing job was as an ICU float RN at a level 1 trauma center rotating days/nights every 2 weeks (full time). While I was excited for this opportunity, I was not thrilled about working downtown which was an hour away from my house. I have a close hospital near me (about 25 min) that offered me a position in their Medical/Surgical ICU. I have had clinical there before and was comfortable with it, knew some of the nurses and doctors as well. Well, I decided to quit my job to accept the one closer to me. I talked with my manager and said that the commute was just more than I realized and was not having a great experience thus far. However, I feel as though I am going to be a "blacklisted" candidate or on a "do not hire" list with this hospital even though I was an "at-will" employee. Which, I never wanted to happen because they have a children's hospital that I eventually would love to go work at.

My plan was to work adult ICU for a 1-1.5 years and then work in the NICU/PICU whichever one I felt more drawn to. I now feel like that is not going to be possible as I feel they will never want to rehire me for their children's hospital (its attached to the one I was working at). Does anyone have advice for an anxious new grad who just wants to get into the specialty they want? How do I know I have been blacklisted with this company? I feel very dumb at the moment because I think I ruined my chances of ever working there again.

Please be nice in the comments. No reason to be rude! & thank you to those in advance!

I want to start a new thread which says "New grad orientation and manager is putting me on an action plan" but could not see how to start one. So I aam posting here. I have been on orientation for 9 weeks with a seriously flawed orientation system- my preceptor has been a nurse for 2 years and decided on week 5 she could not handle the role. After that, 5 other random nurses on my floor stepped in on an as needed/oer shift basis. No direction as to what I am supposed to be held accountable for per shift.

Then a random meeting (impromptu) with the clinical educator [which I later found out was a TEST to see if I am passing or failing].

No warning, no preparation and no follow up from that person. She apparently has gone to my hiring manager with her feedback which I assum I will get when that hiring manager (who I fel has my back) and I meet to go over what they are calling  an "Action plan".

My questoin is IS this even fair?

What are my best tools to bring besides a positive mindset and a goal to not focus on the managements lack of preparaedness for me/their lack of clarification for me?

I have a feeling the educator wants me fired as my first intro to her on orientation was pretty interesting- she cornered me/bullied me and asked why I was even hired on the unit I am on becuase it is a hard unit for a new grad????? Yikes I feel monopolized and I am hoping I am wrong but I am feeling like someone wants me gone.  I am feeling like I have my whole adult life: women are jealous of me. It's not fun. Please understand I am THE FIRST TO WANT TO CHANGE AND GROW, but this is not fair to surprise someone with a "test" when there is no reason for it. My orientation was (I was hired for) 12-16 weeks, then at 2 weeks, another manager (that did not hire me) said "NO". Then again, the manager hiring me say "YES" and then I got two more weeks. Now, I have 2 weeks left (out of the original 12) and I am told I will be getting "feedback and an action plan".

Yikes.

Thanks for any input you could offer!
