Quinnipiac ABSN 2017

Published

Hey everyone! I plan on applying to Quinnipiac this August (2016) for the 2017 start. I was wondering if there was anyone else interested in the program, how your grades are, or if there's anyone in the program now or in the past that has any information they are willing to share. Thanks!!

my grades:

Micro: A-

Anatomy I: B+

Anatomy II: A

Statistics: A

Hi Erin-

So glad to hear there is someone else that is entering this program straight out of their undergrad. I am as well. I am graduating in May from Miami University in Oxford OH but I live in Westchester. My major is Sport Leadership & Management with a Coaching concentration. I was really concerned about not having any experience so I have enrolled in a CNA program for the first part of summer with hopes that I can spend the month of August working. I'm not planning on working during the program because everything they said at the info session I went to when I was home for Spring Break made it sound like it wasn't feasible. If I find out otherwise once the program begins, I guess I can look for per diem work at that point.

I know we received an email from Cory Boyd the other day with this information so I'm probably a little late, but they quoted $71,000 at the info session. I did receive my financial package and I can say that it is not anything that will make a dent in that number.

My commute would be similar to what others have stated (a bit over an hour). I'm pretty concerned about long days, late nights and the clinicals being up to an hour away from there so I'm probably going to try to find a place near campus. If anyone else is thinking the same, let me know. I have heard that at the orientation many people connect to find housing together.

I have committed to Quinnipiac. It was pretty much my first choice. I am waiting to hear from NYU but even though I'm a New Yorker, given that the pricing is equal or higher and I am a true suburbanite at heart I don't think that I would want to live in NYC. Got Northeastern but wasn't as happy with the layout of their program. Seems like a fair amount of online and lots of bouncing between campuses. Also, I'm a little familiar with Quinnipiac because my brother graduated there.

Congrats to everyone. Looking forward to meeting you all at Orientation.

Hi blackberrymousse-

It's not too late. Usually the earlier the better but you should still definitely complete it and see what happens.

Good luck!

Hi all - I just chose to accept my admission offer to Quinnipiac and started a facebook page for anyone who would like toconnect. Search "Quinnipiac ABSN 2017" and you will find the group.

No worries - happy to help!

I got my acceptance letter around March 21st, regular mail.

I graduated with my Bachelor's last May, and started the program in the fall. I am 29 and started this whole college when I was a bit older. :)

My grades for pre-reqs were all straight A's -- i had just gotten my CNA certificate the fall of 2016, and i had some hospital (nutrition office) experience.

I am in the program now, so yes, I started fall 2016. I like the program, it's intense, lots of studying, esp when the exams start rolling around, but it is doable. I am from the area, married with a house, so I did not have to deal with finding a place to live. Many people from our class that moved here to do the program looked for apartments when they came up for the orientation in June. The school also has apartments down the street that they offer - they are pricey but they do exist. Some of the people from my class ended up meeting at the orientation and then became roommates for the year. They will have someone talking about housing during the orientation, and discuss the options. 47 students in my class. They had a bigger class last year!

I am working three different per diem jobs, and it depends on the quiz/exam/assignment schedule. I study all day Sundays usually, but I will do some sort of school work for the most part every day, it's hard to tell how much, I don't have a set amount of time I spend weekly. Sundays are definitely an all day studying day for me with a friend; we meet at school to go through stuff for the week. But, when the midterms/finals roll around, I don't work the week before, and we literally study all day every day, for 4-5 days straight. So, staying on top of things, and studying/reading weekly is the key.

The class is mixed, people from all over the country, different experiences, some younger, some older, Most of people are fresh grads with their BS, but there are teachers, paramedics, psych techs, EMTs, etc.

Hope this helps!

I like the sound of that. From the last time I checked Qunnipiac's website format changed and can't find any information on their site regarding admission requirements.

I already completed AP1 and Intro to Chem. In the process of hopefully completing Micro and AP2.

Is there an essay requirement?

Appreciate the feedback.

Hey WCSU1987,

Yes there is an essay requirement along with 2 references. If I'm not mistaken the prereqs were micro, stats, AP 1 & AP 2.

Accelerated BSN Program for Second Degree Students | Quinnipiac University

Good luck!

I found out something helpful yesterday. The $71,215 includes student health insurance. If you don't need to get health insurance through the school, you can deduct $2,300 from the tuition.

Is everyone taking the CPR/BLS course or just the CPR for adult, child and infant w/ AED ?

I believe you need the BLS for health care providers.

Hi congrats! I also live in Higganum. What are the chances two people from Higganum got into the same program?

Have you decided if you'll be attending Quinnipiac?

Hi congrats!

I also live in Higganum and will be joining the program! What are the chances that two people from Higganum got accepted?

I was wondering if you decided to accept your offer to attend?

No way! Yes, I am definitely going. My name is Christina....I look forward to meeting you at the orientation in June!

Hi! I am thinking of applying to QU for the accelerated program within the next year or two. I graduated from another university with a BA in Psychology in 2007, so going back to school is a big decision. I am very curious to know about the program and the prerequisites as the website was a bit confusing. Are prerequisites included in the program or do those need to be completed prior to the start of the program?
