Quickest Way for Getting Things Done and Licensed in US

As most of you know, I have been recommending initial licensure in NY for quite some time. And for those of you that did not heed the warning, you now know why.

New York is three easy applications only, next you take the NCLEX exam, then you get a hard license and can endorse to almost any state afterwards. Because of the requirements of the Special Credentials Verification for New York, you do not have to do any of the running around to obtain your documents. CGFNS will obtain them for you....after you sign the release and send them the money.

NY also requires two short classes that can be done on-line, one on Child Abuse, and the other on Infection. Both are available for about $15 each and take only one hour or so.

NY BON application can be found at http://www.op.nyed.gov. You only need to submit "Form 1."

The Special Credentials Verification can be found at http://www.CGFNS.org, as well as the Visa Screen Application.

Once you have received documentation from NY that your credentials have been received and approved, submit payment to Pearson-Vue for the NCLEX exam. http://www.perasonvue.com. They are the ones that will actually send you the ATT letter, upon approval of the Board of Nursing. Be aware that this ATT (authorization to test) is only good for ninety (90) days. You will have onlt that amount of time to get the exam done in, otherwise you will lose your payment and have to start again.

Hope that this helps................ :balloons:

Most importantly, NY will issue you the license without a Social Security Number.

CGFNS would not be involved in any way. You do not require their services for anything. Just go to Vermont's BON website and use the application that is for "License by Examination" --- that is all that you need. Once you pass NCLEX, and get your license, then you should apply to WA for license by endorsement.

Shortest way to do things in your case, since you are already a US citizen, etc.

Hope that this helps.:nurse:

Suzanne,

Once again, THANK YOU for the information and the super quick reply!

I will call the BON VT today. I was afraid that I'd be passing through the CGFNS because my nursing studies and my RN degree are in french...

I will let you know the final outcome...:yelclap:

You will have to get a certified tranlation, this would also be required for you to do for CGFNS. The only time that they take care of it is when you are applying for licensure in NY and go thru the CVS process.

Otherwise the responsibility belongs to you.

No one else has had issues submitting a certified translation to Vermont.

For others that are reading this: Vermont is fast when you only need a license in the US. If you are needing any services of CGFNS, then it will not make times faster for you. You will still need to deal with CGFNS for the Visa Screen Certificate, as well as pay fees to the other state for endorsement, unless you are planning to work in Vermont.

Hi Suzanne!

Thanks for the infos.... I have more questions... What steps should i take first?... Will i filled up and pass the NCLEX applcation first? or the CVS?.. or can i pass it both?

Im really clueless abt the whole application..

Thank you for your patience.

God Bless

Hon

NCLEX is actually the last thing that you will be doing. You need to have permission from NY, after your credentials have been accepted, before you even appy and register with Pearson-Vue. That is at the bottom of the list.

If you can only afford to do one thing at a time, submit the application for the CVS first. You will also need to submit an application for the Visa Screen Certificate, and they can use the same documents for that as well as the CVS, they only ned the application with payment, then of course, the application for NY BON, Form 1 only.

Everything is listed at the top of this forum under "Fastest Ways........... "

Hi Suzanne!

I´ve been looking for info on how I should go about getting my Nursing licence. I have graduated as an RN in Finland with the title Bachelor of Nursing in 2003. I already have my Visa due to family in the U.S. Do I only need to take my NCLEX or something else as well. I´m bilingual in english and finnish but in professional nursing vocabulary I fear I might have major problems. I did my studies in finnish. Will I need to take a language proficiency test?

Thanks for your help

Good day everyone. Its my first post here. I should have known this helpful website a long time ago.

I'm a Filipino nurse who was recently notified by my agency that I already have a notice of approval dated November 18, 2005. They are asking me to submit my CA BON and fingerprint form card. The problem is I'm working here in Dubai for almost 2 months now. I can send them my filled-up CA BON application but the fingerprinting has to be done at NBI Manila office, which is impossible unless I resign from the hospital that hired me and immediately head back home. Can I just be fingerprinted at the US or Philippine embassy here in Dubai and I will send the form to the Philippines to be submitted to the NBI by an authorised representative? Or are there any other ways to which I can accomplish the fingerprinting requirements? Thanks in advance.

If you have a green card already, then you only need to do the NCLEX exam. You will not be required to take the English exams for the visa, however, depending on the state, some do have English requirements for licensure, if one of those, then yes, you will be required to pass in order to qualify for the license.

It will depend on the state, Michigan will require you to have the CGFNS exam as well in order to get a license. Not sure which state that you are in.

The fingerprinting can be done at any police dept. Not sure what NBI is, but CA needs to receive the two sets of fingerprints.

If your agency is telling you that you need to have it done inb Manila, they are giving you the wrong information.

NBI- National Bureau of Investigation..its like the FBI there in the states..:)

Thank you very much Suzanne. Now I'll just ask the local police here in Dubai to have me fingerprinted. May I share with you what my agency in Manila is doing with my EB3 application. Literally they are making it quick for me to get licensed in the US. But they are still not processing my VIsascreen application. So the logic is as long as I'm not licensed as RN in the US, my immigration process can wait. This could be because a visa's validity is good for only six months and they don't want to gamble with their "investment" that I'll end up as LVN in the US. I'm planning to take the IELTS at the British embassy here in Dubai by March of next year and without VS I don't know where will my IELTS be forwarded.
