Hi, I was just wondering how high does your gpa have to be to get into TCC's program? I know they require a minimum of 2.5, my question is to those of you who are in the program or have been accepted, what was the gpa you got accepted with, if you don't mind sharing? Also those of you who are in the program, what do you think of it, how are the classes/clinicals/instructors/coursework? Thank you!

ffweste-How do you like OU? Are you going to the Tulsa campus? If you don't mind me asking, what was your gpa when you got accepted to OU? Sorry, Im asking so many questions!! As soon as this semester is over, I will be submitting my application to OU-Tulsa's program, so any and all info you could give me about it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

I am currently in my first year at OU-Tulsa and I would highly recommend the program and most of the instructors care about their students and are there to help you. I got into OU on my first try with a 3.85 GPA and I know of other students who got accepted with lower GPA's. We started out with about 55 students and most of us are still hanging in there. I haven't heard anything good about TCC so thank goodness you didn't get accepted. OU and Langston are really good schools and if you are going to pay for an education, schools with bad reputations would be a waste of resources. Good luck in the future....

mistiffy - my GPA was NOT as high as Kristina's. I am at the Tulsa campus. I am in the accelerated nursing program. We started with 31 and still have 27 left. My overall GPA right now is 3.07, my science GPA was a 3.91. But I do know some people in the traditional program and actually the people who are gone from my class now, 2 of them just moved into the traditional program. It is a great program and I really have enjoyed all of the faculty so far. I really like people that I have met both in my program and the other programs.

They really stress wanting you to succeed. They are giving us free tutoring in some of our harder classes and are overall so supportive. They give you every opportunity to prepare you not only to be a great nurse but also to pass the boards.

Just wanted to give a quick little update here: I got a phone call yesterday afternoon from TCC's nursing dept. and a spot opened up and I got in!!!!!!!!!!! I was resigned to the fact that I didnt get in, I already enrolled in more pre-req classes, and I was good too go, but then they called and I had to say YES! I have heard some not so great things about TCC, but I feel like I need to give it a shot, I think it's an opportunity I shouldn't pass up so Im gonna do it, and I plan on doing it successfully!! Ok, sorry Im rambling, Im just super excited!!

Hi y'all,

I hope I'm not being redudant here, but I'm just brand new on here ... I am hoping to apply for TCC for Fall. I have all my prereqs finished, etc. I am not super worried about getting in (I hope that doesn't sound conceited), but ... I am starting to really question myself. Not so much my abilities I guess, but ... I keep reading all of these HORRIBLE things about TCC. It is starting to freak me out! It sounds like people drop like flies, even in their last semester -- is this true?? Why?? Is it really that bad? :uhoh3:

To folks who are already nurses ... I am reading an awful lot about burnout only a few years into the job ... do you have any experience with this?

I have thought for the last 3 years that I was so sure of what i wanted, but all of this negative feedback has me second-guessing ... would YOU do it all over again? Was it worth it?

I'm scared, and I think I need a hug! :icon_hug:

Im now going into my 5th week at TCC, I had my first clinical wednesday. SO that said, I am just a level one student and it is fairly new, but in my opinion MOST of the instructors have been wonderful. Everyone has been very approachable so far and they've stressed to us over and over again that they want us to succeed. The clinical instructor I was assigned to is notorious for her bad reputation and putting students through clinical h***. However, I thought she was WONDERFUL (so did the rest of my clinical group) and she made it very clear what we were going to be expected to do. Ask me again in a few weeks if I still feel the same tho! hehe I do think if it's possible you should apply to more than just TCC tho. I mean, I know you're sure you'll get in, and thats great, but if you get accepted to more than one school you have more options to choose from and I think that's good. I'm new to nursing school, but I can tell you it's going to be HARD work, butif you want it bad enough and you're disciplined about studying/reading/homework and really learning how to THINK in a whole new way, you'll be ok. From the sounds of it, you have it together, so go for it, and you really have to find out for yourself about the programs; one student might experience bad things with a program while another experiences only great things with the same program. I think that goes for anything, really, you kinda just gotta see for yourself! Sorry this got so long, I think I was rambling a little bit! Oh ya :hgu:

Mistiffy,

Just wondered how you were doing now at TCC now that we are in the first part of April.

Hi! Im doing pretty well, surprisingly! lol, Are u going to TCC? Although, I do have to say that I am extremely ready for this semester to be over with. I find Im getting really bored, ESPECIALLY in clincal!

No, I am not going to TCC. I thave thought about going there. Just not sure which college I want to go to. I have heard a lot of bad things about TCC. So I am just checking out my options right now. I read on some of the other threads that you were thinking about leaving TCC and going some where else. Is there a reason why are wanting to leave TCC?

The only reason Ive been thinking about leaving TCC is because Ive been going to school for almost 5 years (changed my major mid-way) and I want a bachelors degree to show for it. At TCC I can only receive an associates. Although at this point I think I have pretty much decided to stick with TCC and do the bridge program at OU-Tulsa for my BSN, because then I can get out of taking Chemistry!!:chuckle Plus, Ive been lookin into OU and they have a career mobility program for RN to BSN students so it shouldn't be too hard to work while Im going there.....If u have any other questions, please feel free to ask!
