Welcome to ALLNURSES!

Start at the top and work your way down through all the systems. It works fairly quick for me. I was the fastest and most accurate in my graduating class. Remember to assess first.

Good luck. Welcome to Allnurses! :)

Much of your head to toe can be done as soon as you enter the room just by conversing and visualizing your pt. Practice=Speed, but don't ever feel you need to rush. The more clinicals you do and the more assessments you complete the faster you will get. Don't get frustated if you forget something and have to actually go back to the pt's room either (like say, pedal pulses...). There is a lot of information to learn and you will eventually be able to do it all without even realizing it.:wink2:

yeah i remember being in your shoes last semester. I was very overwhelmed with it.. but really just practice. Practicing it over and over again made it stick in my head.:wink2:

hi, kyros!

until the process becomes ingrained in your brain you should have some sort of sheet in front of you to remind you what to ask and to keep you directed, or you will forget something. there is no shame in doing that. if you don't have one, you just have to make your own.

here is a website that a lot of students find helpful:

http://www.mededcenter.com/module_viewer.asp?module=+118#headtotoe - this is a great guide to physical assessment. it is called head to toe assessment in 5 minutes (well, maybe a little longer than that) that was originally posted on this thread https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/help-health-assessment-evals-139193.html

welcome to allnurses! :welcome:

I just started my clinicals and found this website a great help. Thank you for sharing this.

God Bless
