Questions about working weekends...

If you work weekends (day or night), do you get a differential? Or, do you get the same amount of money as someone who works weekdays? Just wondering because I started working night shift and noticed a big difference in my paycheck and wanted to know how it is for working weekends. Thanks!:)

SIX BUCKS AN HOUR WEEKEND DIFFERENTIAL??! Holy cow.....What dream planet are you on, and how do I get there?? :chuckle

Really!

The most I've ever gotten for noc shift diff is $1.50/hr.

The job i was just hired for offers 3/night diff and 3.50 for weekends. So weekend nights are nice, and we're required to do eow. Oh, and they offer 8/hr extra for holidays. Now that's nice. :)

I have been a R.N. for 3 months now and I get $3.00 per hour for working nights then on weekends I get $2.00 per hour more for weekend shift working nights. So I get a $5.00 per hour total shift differential on top of my base pay which is $19.00 base pay for the weekends I work and I work only 3 weekend nights per month.

Also remember that the pay is going to vary from place to place and remember with place to place cost of living is different. I live in the midwest in a part where the average new house is about $150,000. Even with $120,000 can get you a REALLY nice house in my area.

Compared to where one of my cousins live the average cost of a house is about $400,000.00 although she makes $25 an hour to start that is really not something for me to get all excited over because her cost of living is much higher.

I have a weekender position....I can only miss two weekends a year so from 7a-3p I get an additional $9 per hour, and from 3p-7p I get an additional $11 per hour. For nonweekenders who picked up extra weekend time-the shift diff is $2 an hour (I think). The advantage for me of being a weekender is I am fulltime at 24 hours a week with fulltime benefits.
