recorders
i have never used a recorder for lectures, but i need to try everything considering my lectures are 5 hours long. anyone know of a great recorder that i could download i keep hearing olympus. i am not familiar with how this works so if anyone could share how they use their recorder that would help me alot.
iphone
i have had my iphone for about three months & it seems everyday i learn something new with it. this was a really good investment for me considering i am hearing of how students are using them as pda's in their programs. i only have the epocrates application right now. anyone have any other referals for applications that have been helpful in their program? also, i have heard of people downloading their lectures on the phone anyone know which recorder is compatible with the iphone?
thanks so much for any imput. good luck to you all & god bless!:redbeathe

Not sure as a student how useful technology is but I do have a PDA and love it. I would suggest you have a good look through our mobile computing forum re laptop and Iphone I don't think there is much written there about recorders

I don't know much about iphone (i have an ipod touch that I use as my PDA and it's great!), but I was just reading the other day about an app for iphone that works as a voice recorder. Sorry, I can't remember what it was called but it might be something to look into so you don't have to buy a recorder and you already have an iphone.
On laptops, I have a Dell that is great so I can't say how apple's are even though I have heard they are great. But it's hard to say how much you will use it in NS. It really depends on your school and how much you like to use the computer. A lot of schools use mostly powerpoints or handouts to print out, so it might be good to find out from the school or from students at the school already how much they use their computers before you invest in a new one. I really like to use the computer for notes and stuff so I bring it to a lot of my classes, but most other students at my school do not use the computer and could pretty much get away with only using it for research and papers. So a lot of it is up to you...
