hello everyone... i am going to be moving to long island anywhere from a year from now to two years from now.. i am currently in cali ..and my bf and plan to move to li where he is originally from... my questions are... if i get my lvn here in cali..does ny have or allow bridge programs for adn??
the reason i ask is... when i move i wont be considered a resident for at least a year..and that would make tuition at a com. college much more expensive..so i am considering..instead of beginning adn here and transferring right away and having to pay higher tuition fees.. to go ahead and get my lvn here..and liscense in ny ..work for a year and then bridge to adn..but i am a bit worried that ny doesnt have bridge or allow credit for lvn to adn..
any insight or info would be greatly appreciated and i cant wait to become a resident of beautiful l.i.!!! thank you xoxo jenn

each school is different as to what they accept but from what I read, it seems that experienced LPNs can get credit. Heres some info from one of the schools in the city university system:
In order to provide credit for prior educational experiences and to allow Licensed Practical Nurses to complete the nursing curriculum with less time and expense, the Nursing Department of Borough of Manhattan Community College provides a career ladder for LPNs to challenge the Nursing Fundamentals course by taking the NLN Nursing Profile 1 Examination. Upon successful completion of this exam and of the Nursing Concepts Course (NUR 120), students will be exempt from taking NUR 112.>
