a few questions about nursing for an RN for class- please reply

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello,

I am taking clinical calculations before I apply to nursing school and I need to interview a nurse. I sent the questions to the only RN I know, but she is really busy and I don't know if she will be able to respond in time. Can someone please help me out and answer the questions below? It is due this Sunday. I would need to know your name (can use last initial only if you want) and where or at least what type of place you work at. Here are the questions:

1)Can you tell us a little bit about your education and background in nursing?

2)Why did you decide to become a nurse and when did you know that you wanted to be a nurse?

3)What is your favorite part of being a nurse?

4)Is there anything about being a nurse that you don't like?

5)Do you have any advice for nursing students juggling busy lives and trying to get through nursing school?

6)Is there a field in nursing that you think is most in need of nurses?

7)I have heard that there is a lot of hostility in nursing, towards other nurses and nursing students. Do you find this to be true at all?

8) Was it easy for you to find a job when you graduated? Do you know if the place where you work hires BSN and ADN nurses?

9)Do you have anything else I might have missed that you would like to add?

There are alot of these requests here. The problem is that I personally believe that your instructors want you to do a face to face interview. This is an important part of your daily interactions with patients. I think your instructors are looking to expose you and help you become more comfortable in talking with complete strangers.

The interview process in nursing is extremely important. It is imperative that you learn to pick up on verbal and nonverbal clues from the first moment of contact whether triaging or interveiwing you new admission. A lot of information can be obtained through non verbal communication and eye contact (or the lack thereof) Like " is anyone hurting you mentally of physically at home??" I can easily say no now but in person ....What does the body language show? Is someone hurting them and they are afraid to say????

I am thinking it is the face to face skills that your instructors are looking for.....not something tweeted or FB'd or blogged. Make an appointment at your own doctors office to talk to that nurse (just make sure they are a nurse and not a medical assistant...your assingment is to talk to a nurse.) Go to a minute clinic at CVS or Walgreens and talk to a nurse there......go to your town's board of health or health services. Go to your local schools.....elementry,middle,jr or high and speak to the school nurse. Go to the health stop on campus....there should be a nurse there too.......Good Luck..!

Thank you for your reply, but this is the exact assignment pasted from my online class and she actually mentions emailing them. It is more for learning about nursing as we all have not even begun nursing classes yet:

For this assignment, you will interview a nurse. Your interview needs to consist of at least eight questions. Those questions can be about any topic that interests you and relates to the nursing field.

Your post for this unit needs to include the nurse's name and in what field he or she works along with your questions and his/her replies.

Your report can be paragraph style or interview style (question followed by answer.)

It is preferable, but not necessary, that you email your questions to the person whom you are interviewing.

If you're still looking for someone to answer the questions for your assignment, feel free to PM me. If you can't PM yet, let me know and I'll send you my e-mail.

HI I am online now and have time.

Hello,

Helping people. Being around smart people. Lots of different opportunities.

nursing shortage, too heavy of assignments, wet floors, old nurse who eat thier young, new nurses who think they know everything. being physically and verbally abused by patients and families and coworkers.

yes it was easy when the economy was better. hospitals and nursing homes hire both and home health agencies. but home health agencies want you to be experienced

9)Do you have anything else I might have missed that you would like to add? Safety always comes first...Always!

Hope this helps.

I think this mode is acceptable. The idea is to conduct an interview and I do not think it has to be face to face. I am working on my doctoral online and we do everything online.
