I see lots of posts about passing or failing with 75 questions, just curious what the stats are. I would like to think that nursing school prepares us enough that those who get 75 are mostly passing?

There were alot of priority questions, a couple calcuations, and then just general questions. I don't think they update on weekends because the web site said it was updated on Friday August 8, 2008. You probaly won't get your results until Tuesday August 12, 2008. Good luck to you!:nurse:

Did you have any alternate questions?

Took my exam last Aug. 6, 2008. 2-3 days after, quick results is already available. I availed the quick result and found out that I pass. Computer shut down at number 75, I had more than 10 select all that applies. Prayers really work for me. I prayed the rosary everyday and visited many churches asking for God's guidance. I always recite the prayer of St. Joseph of Cupertino everyday. To God be the glory.

75 Q, 20 SATA, 1 math, 1 identify the picture..........PASSED and very grateful!!! I know I couldnt have gotten all those SATA questions right. I sincerely believe they do give partial credit, but just dont tell us. I even missed extremely simple questions--which bugged me all day as I waited for my results. I maybe only had 2 delegations, and a lot of signs/symptoms which i was also freaking out bc i thought s/s were low end questions. I was sooo worried that i didnt get more delegation question. Good luck to everyone whos taking it soon!!!

I just learned I passed !!!

After 75 questions computer shut down, but I was so upset that I did not care if I passed or fail... I was a masacre ... most of the questions were SATA type - i would say at least 50 out of 75 - they were coming in rows of three or four followed by one multiple choice question , a few meds, a few priorization and delegation and no math Q at all. I was pretty sure I failed ... I never felt like that before, as a failure.

But I passed .... I passed .... I passed. I am so happy.:yeah:

well I can say that it doesn't matter how many questions you have its a nightmare until you get your results....Luckily I psssed with 75

Also PN, passed at 85.

Hi everybody. I just graduated from a bachelors nursing program in may 08 and I took my NCLEX-RN for the first time this wednesday. Found out yesterday that I failed. I am so disgusted with myself and on top of that I feel like a failure and a disappointment. I cried for hours and just couldnt understand "why"...I did Kaplan and I really don't feel like it helped at all. My computer stopped at 77 and I just didnt know what to do. I just dont understand if I was doing bad, why did it stop so early. Well, I already plan to get back up and take the test again in 45 days but i just don't know how to approach it or what to study from. Any ideas?

Congrats NurseJenn. Thats great. What I took the NCLEX the other day and failed at 77 and I studied Kaplan. Any studying tips that you can suggest? What did you use to study?

hey sleepy & stressed, don't feel blue i did not really use kaplan or their strategies to pass the test. i did read their philosophy in an older addition book that i had of kaplan which also came with a cd. what i mainly did to study was i bought the sanders comprehensive 2008 edition and the way i approached the studying was to do the small quiz at the end of each section in the book, if i got less than 80% right on that section, then i read the content portion of that section that the questions were based on. i also kept track of my scores on the table of contents page so it was really easy to see the areas that i was strong in and the areas where i was weak. when i would feel stupid like i just was not getting good scores on anything i would stop and put in the cd and select l&d questions (that is my strength) so that i would regain some confidence. i studied intensly 3 days a week (for the full day with only a lunch break like it was a job or i was at school) i did not study on the weekends, just spent time with my family, and the other two days i studied for only a few hours in the evening. the cd for the saunders is great also because you can break down what type of questions you want to answer, you can also choose to only have alternative format questions. nothing is like the nclex. really you should study in your areas that you know are weak and then practice answering the questions that you have no clue about, b/c the nclex is all about thinking critically. my last bit of advice is do not study the day before your exam. this day should be a day of rest and pampering. my friend and i went and had manicures in the spa the day before. and don't forget to take breaks during your exam even if they are short and sweet. my plan was to break after every 50 questions, so that i didn't get a headache starring at the screen.

well the good thing is that now you know what to expect and the brn should send you a diagnostic on the test that you took so that you can see where you are strong and what you need to work on. take a few days and relax before you start preparing again and get your money back from kaplan.

i'm sure you will pass this time, but remember that being confident in yourself is half the battle. when you go to take the test walk in telling yourself that you are smart, intelligent and that you know the answers, you just have to relax and open your mind so that you can think clearly. and remember everything is going to be ok, good luck and keep me posted! i hope you find my advice helpful.

I too passed at 75 questions. The whole time I felt like I was being punked:clown: and then when it hit 75 and shut off for some odd reason I felt like bursting out laughing (of course I didn't because other people were still taking it). But Im happy now.:yeah:
