I see lots of posts about passing or failing with 75 questions, just curious what the stats are. I would like to think that nursing school prepares us enough that those who get 75 are mostly passing?
ladyhouck01 said:Took the NCLEX RN today and it shut off at 75 questions. I went numb. That is the only way I can describe it. I had tons of infection control and I swear 20 SATA. I hate those. I'm just hoping that the majority of those were the experimental questions. I walked out feeling like a complete idiot. I won't know the results until Wednesday and the stress of that is almost worse than the stress of taking the test. It eases my mind somewhat to come on here and see that the majority passed with the 75 questions. I don't know how nurses used to handle waiting for weeks and months to get results.
hello ladyhouk01, i took NCLEX on the same day june 23..and it shut off at 75 questions too.im scared to death right now. i dont have any SATA or calculation question.i wonder why is like that its very orificeual that dont get any of alternate question, all are multiple choice. i read some people get 15-20 sata. im thinking maybe i did very bad on the exam,so they cut me off at 75. good luck to you and God bless.. im still hoping for a miracle and good news though!
suzanne4 said:85% pass the first time that they take the exam.So that means that 15% will need to take it again.
The number of questions that you get has no bearing on telling you if you passed or did not pass. I get quite a few e-mails and pms from those that did not pass with 75, as well as those that passed with 265. The number is just that, a number. Too much focus is placed on that, and too many ulcers are created.
i stopped at 75 and i feel like i failed,im still waiting for the result..but im thinking to do Suzzanes plan before i take it again.
i failed! but to those who stopped at 75 and still waiting for the result, just hang on there, most people passed at 75 im just one of those unfortunate failed..GOOD LUCK GUYS... and GOD BLESS..
im going to take it again but for now need to gfet back to study mode.. anybody here have some advice about good study plan or habits.
thanks..
I am extremely happy to announce that I passed! I haven't had a full night of sleep since before the test and I'm exhausted. For anyone who is still studying, I found the Kaplan NCLEX prep book to be very helpful. I read the whole book and answered all the practice question. I answered lots of questions besides those, but the Kaplan book really helped me to come up with the right answers while I studied. Good luck to everyone!
I know how you guys felt, I had 75 also and I am scared to death! I find out in 1 hour if I passed or failed. I had a lot of select all that apply and a lot of priority and some I knew that I am not sure if I even answered right. I will sooo cry if I did not pass. I hope I did ok this stress and nervousness is killing me....
I am so comforted by this thread. Thank you all for sharing your concerns because I feel a little better that I am not the only one who feels like a complete idiot after taking the NCLEX. Mine shut off after 75 questions-a lot of select all that apply, infection control, medications, prioritization & delegation. I feel sure that I failed. I cannot imagine that I passed-it feels so awful. I have had a migraine ever since I left the testing center. This morning, reading these recent posts, is the first time I feel a little better. I am already planning on studying Suzanne's program if the feared happens.
Congrats to those who passed.
I can empathize with those who failed. If I did fail-I am going to have a more concrete plan for the next attempt and get out of the house to study!
I just found out yesterday that I PASSED!!!!! I am so excited I am finally and RN. I cannot believe it all I have worked for is finally happening. I had 75 Ques's lots of SATA and priority. I had atleast 10 meds maybe more, I will say it is easy to get the priority ques's down to 2 answers but the 2 it is in between are pretty hard to pick. I would study prioritization a lot. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!
Those of you who are reading this are looking for answers. Did I pass? Did I fail? Have confidence in the test. If yours turned off at 75, chances are you passed. The test has to have time to evaluate you; to see if you just don't know one particular question or if you don't know enough to be safe when faced with things you don't know. Additionally, for the test to have the ability to evaluate a candidate with claimed 95% accuracy, EVERY question answer would have to have data assigned to it. That is, it may not be so important that you guess the exact right answer as much as it is that you don't choose a particular answer (possibly one that might hurt your client). Remember, it's all about the safety of your client. Of everyone from my class that has taken the NCLEX-RN so far, every person who's test turned off at 75 passed. Including me.
hey guys, i'm a newbie in here. I had been lurking here since the day after my test (JUne 24th), but was too stress out to actually join the family..heheh. anyways, I found out two days later that I PASSED! I had about 20-25 SATAs, delegation, infection control, priority, some medications. NO math and woman's health question came up.
I was convinced that I failed that test, 100% no doubt that I did. I felt miserable during those two day waiting period. It's awful. I could sleep, and I felt like I'm going to have diarrhea...lol. anyways, everything is worth it. I I found out I passed through the Texas Board of Nursing website.
Here are my study guides:
HESI BOOK -- we took the hesi as our exit test, so i studied that book so much. I figured I'm familiar with it, so I read it again for the NCLEX. Honestly, I don't really like it that much.
Illustrated Study Guide for the NCLEX by JoAnn Zerweck--This is by far the best book that I've used. Every single question in the Nclex that came up, was here. Very detailed, and there are pictures to help you all up remember.
KAPLAN -- didn't take the review coorifice but my friend let me borrowed his. I've read the first chapter and I didn't like it. So I didn't use it.
Sauders CD -- the question are so easy, but helpful.
NCLeX 3500 CD by lippincott -- very good. you can check this website and it's here nursing.goivytech.net. Guys who hasn't taken it yet, this website has 3500 questions you can practice and it's good and most of all FREE.
MedSpub Review coorifice -- absolute boring! I went to sleep for 3 days while I was in there. I thought everything that she's talking about, I already knew. Our school paid for it.
Another Review coorifice (don't remember the name) -- boring AGAIN! it was supposed to be a 3day thing, but after I sleep in the 1st day, I didn't attent the rest!..lol. My hospital paid for it, so I didn't have to spend a single penny!

There was not one question that I got that I didn't know or didn't have no idea. Didn't really thing that it was that hard, except, that I had so many SATAs that I felt like, most of them, I might have left out an answer or pick more than enough answer.
It's over now, so I very releived!
NCLEX-RN
Turned off at 75 and I went numb. Felt horrible, but I passed after all!
I studied the Kaplan book-felt it was pretty good but not enough questions to only use that for study.
I used the Q&A saunders book (2nd ed) and the cd from the 3rd edition saunders book. Definitely advocate the most updated Saunders book(4th ed.) and the cd (I borrowed my friends 2 days b4 the test).
I signed up for the 3week learningext.com course through the ncsbn website but I didn't like the outline format at all and stopped about halfway through. The tests questions were good practice but not enough SATA. Much better on the saunders cd.
Hang in there!

Hotangel- I also took the test this morning and I had the same experience. I had at least 20 select all that apply. It seemed like every other question was a select all that apply, a lot of medications, infection control and prioritization. I feel like I completely failed. I also took Kaplan, but it didn't prepare me for that many SATA's. It's almost impossible to do the decision tree on those questions.I was also wondering if you get a lot of SATA's if that is good. A friend that I graduated with had tons of them and she passed at 75. She said most of them are probably the "fake/test" questions that they give you. Good luck!
