I see lots of posts about passing or failing with 75 questions, just curious what the stats are. I would like to think that nursing school prepares us enough that those who get 75 are mostly passing?
i just took the nclex on the 17th. i kept telling myself and kept hoping that the test would stop at 75, and it did!!!! but now that it did stop at 75 i feel like i've passed with flying colors or failed horribly. i'm sooooo confused and my anxiety level has never been so high because of all this waiting for the results. i've been trying so hard to keep myself busy but it's hard because it's summer, i'm not working and it's sooo hot in California right now to even do anything. I wish California participated in the quick results service through pearsonvue, because i would be able to check to today.. and i heard it would take 3-5 days to check it on the CA BON website. (that's one more day!!! i can't wait anymore).
i hope i passed.
camdiss said:I also took the test on Thursday and, even though I was cut off at 75, I was extremely worried that I failed. But... I found that yesterday that I passed! I think it was all the SATA's that really killed my confidence since those questions are ALWAYS hard to get right no matter how easy the topic. From all indications, it seems that getting a pretty good amount of SATA's means you're probably doing pretty well. Good luck to anyone who's waiting on their results!
Mine too was loaded with SATA's! Those questions kill the confidence level!
I just took NCLEX on Sat. 6/21/08, computer cut off at 75 and I thought that I failed. I had 12 SATA, 4 dose/calc, some peds, 2 ob/maternal, and a lot of priority (which pt will you see first) questions. Just found out today that I passed. You will get questions of illnesses you never heard of and meds you don't have a clue about. Try to rationalize what the question is really asking you for as the RN. I believe this is what helped me pass the first time with 75 questions. I found Hurst Review, Lippincott review with CD and Kaplan's NCLEX strategies book to be most helpful. On the "harder" questions, Kaplan's strategies really helped. To prepare, I did NCLEX style questions everyday. Some questions you get are not about the actual "illness" but may be about offering the pt a well-balanced meal. To all those out there waiting to take NCLEX, try to keep busy after you take your test while waiting for your results. This is the hardest part of NCLEX. :sasq:

You probably passed!!! I did have about 3 infection control questions as well. I hear the more priority/mgt questions you get means you are in the higher level of questions. I felt the same anxiety. It's the waiting that is the worst. Try to keep busy while waiting. I went to a theme park all day the day after I tested to keep my mind clear. After getting on all of those crazy rollercoasters, I was drained. I came home, showered and got ready for bed. Of course, I couldn't sleep so I just watched tv. Woke up this a.m. and logged onto pearsonvue for my results. I passed. All of that anxiety is probably a good indicator that you passed. Best of luck and let us know when you get your results.
Took the NCLEX RN today and it shut off at 75 questions. I went numb. That is the only way I can describe it. I had tons of infection control and I swear 20 SATA. I hate those. I'm just hoping that the majority of those were the experimental questions. I walked out feeling like a complete idiot. I won't know the results until Wednesday and the stress of that is almost worse than the stress of taking the test. It eases my mind somewhat to come on here and see that the majority passed with the 75 questions. I don't know how nurses used to handle waiting for weeks and months to get results.

I agree about the "wait" for results. You most likely passed. I had about 12 SATA's, a ton of priority and infection control questions as well and passed with 75 questions. I even made some mistakes with the "easy" questions, but I guess the computer realized I wasn't that "dumb". Try not to stress too much. Easier said than done. This is the hardest part. Let me know when you PASS!!! Good luck and take care.
I just took the NCLEX-RN this morning and am freaking out. The computer stopped at 75 questions and it seems like a blur. I had a ton of Select all that apply questions, a few medication questions, and the rest I can't remember (alot of infection stuff and some priority). I feel like I failed...I did take Kaplan and studied diligently for the last few months but still I'm scared to death. I will be so humiliated if I failed...because I did all I could to pass. I hate this waiting stuff....I feel like I'm going to have a MI. Wish me luck that I don't go insane over the next 48 hours.
P.S. Does anyone know if Select All That Apply questiosn are a good sign or not? Or does it just depend?

I took the exam on the same day, friday the 13 and PV said that I will have to wait 2 business days for the unofficial results. Well, I checked my account on Sunday morning and my results were available. I PASSED. I had to answer the maximum amount of questions. It was a very long exam, but it payed off. Check your account at https://portal.ncsbn.org/, maybe your results will be available too. Good luck and God Bless.
