Hello!
I'm a new LVN and I just completed my IV/Blood Withdrawal course. I received my certificate and it says I earned 36 hours of CEC. I remember a while ago attending this job fair with my school and we did these seminars which counted as as CEC hours as well.
My question is, how many hours do we have to do and how often do we have to do them? Also, who do we turn them in to? Do we ever receive notices in the mail letting us know when our hours are due as well as how many we've done? Does it vary by state?
Thank you in advance!

If you are a Cali LVN, your first renewal, two years from the date of your first license, is a freebie. No CEUs are due. Those that you have earned recently will not count. On your second renewal, you will need 30 CEUs completed during the two years prior to the renewal. You will give the info on the back of your renewal notice. All states have their own requirements.

LVNs in Texas are req 20 hrs every 2 yrs. The 1st renewal is free. Save them to a folder. If you are able to renew online then it will ask you if you completed your hrs. If you are getting audited then you cannot renew online. You will have to submit your CEUs with your renewal app via snail mail.

In California if this is your second renewal and you need the 30CEUs, you don't need to mail your completion certificate to anyone. There is a section of the renewal form where you write down what class you took, how many hours it is worth, and the provider number, so make sure you get that if you can. Keep your certificates in case they have reason to need the certificate itself, but I don't think they check up on people that often. Wonder if anyone has and why, though.
