Questions or content review? [NCLEX]

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hey all,

I will be taking my NCLEX-RN soon...and I was wondering something: is it better to review content (such as reading Saunders or Kaplan texts)...or is it better to do questions (such as the Kaplan Qbank and Question Trainers)? I know we need to understand the content to select the right answer, but I learn just as well from reading the questions rationales (esp Kaplan).

Thanks! :)

I would say do more of the questions if you can. Of course you need to know the basic contents, so it's good to review things you are not sure of and lab values, safety, some basic signs and symptoms of diseases that are repeated, but doing more and more questions will help you. I really feel like I studied a lot of contents, but very few were on it that I studied. I took the kaplan course, and I think doing kaplan questions over and over helped me prepare for it since some questions are very similar! Good luck!

I did the hurst review which lectures general core content. I listened to the lectures/filled in my notes & then read through the notes once after. I also did between 1000-1500 questions. Hopefully it was enough b/c I took my test today and it shut off at 75.

Thanks y'all! I really appreciate it! :) Kaplan and the PDA book are really helping me.

And afox - you got this! Congrats :)

I did mainly questions and read the rationale. I used Saunders and Kaplan. I passed with all 265! Good Luck~

Thanks drbettner! :)
