Are the requirements an ADN and current NCLEX license?
Yes.
Any nursing/health care experience other than clinicals during school required?
No you could be a new grad. Exp may enable you to commission with an identifier ie specialty (ICU, PSCYH - gen requirements are show on 'goarmy.com')
What percentage of applicants are granted a commission?
To many variables... they have annual requirements. Applicants or do you mean competitive applicants or those that make it to the board (passed physical, assemble packet etc) - probably pretty high
How easy/hard is it to transition to Active Duty after receiving a BSN or MSN if already in the reserve?
To transition to active duty reserve? It depends on the slots available in your area -
To transition to 'regular army' (lot's of people refer to this as active duty... ) you need to complete your reserve obligation and then can proceed.. it's doable.
Age requirements or restrictions?
Age - it's on the goarmy.com website - less then 42 if you don't have prior service. I do believe they have some waivers now for those older then 42 with no prior exp....
Thanks for the information. I had seen the age limits on the go army website, but many of the threads on this site and a few others indicated that age waivers were pretty common and I was not sure if this was only for experienced nurses or were extended to new grads as well.
I have a BS in another field and will be graduating with an ADN this coming spring about the same time I turn 40 years old. Given the age limit of 42, I'm not sure I could get admitted to and complete a RN to BSN or MSN program prior to my 42 birthday and it was my understanding that you must have at least a BSN to pursue a commission in the regular army nursing corps.
