Hi everyone,
I'm not a nurse but have been following the discourse on vaccination trying to understand what's going on. Recently there have been a lot of articles saying that the unvaccinated account for 99% of covid deaths. I noticed the UK is reporting a different statistic, with 60% of deaths being at least partially vaccinated.
https://www.theguardian.com/theobserver/commentisfree/2021/jun/27/why-most-people-who-now-die-with-covid-have-been-vaccinated
Not being a nurse, I was wondering if anyone can explain the difference between the two countries. From what I understand AstraZeneca is most used in UK, but Pfizer and others are used as well.
Are these statistics in the US true? Can anyone point me to more info on this besides journalistic articles,. I'm looking for the reports or statistics. Is the 99% consistent with what you guys are seeing?
Thank you for any help.

Dr Fauci spoke 7/4/2021 on NBC's Meet the Press re % U.S June deaths in unvacinated individuals.
Beckers Hospital Review 7/6/21:
'Avoidable and preventable' — 99% of June COVID-19 deaths were among unvaccinated, Fauci says
Quote More than 99 percent of the nearly 10,000 U.S. COVID-19 deaths that occurred in June were among unvaccinated people, according to Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. "If you look at the number of deaths, about 99.2 percent of them are unvaccinated," Dr. Fauci said during a July 4 interview with NBC's Meet the Press. "About 0.8 percent are vaccinated. No vaccine is perfect. But when you talk about the avoidability of hospitalization and death … it's really sad and tragic that most of these are avoidable and preventable." ...

Virtually all new Covid deaths and hospitalizations are among unvaccinated people per White House Covid Task force reports.

Quote Dr. WALENSKY: ...Yesterday, CDC reported more than 33,000 new cases of COVID-19. Our seven-day average is about 26,300 cases per day, and this represents an increase of nearly 70 percent from the prior seven-day average. The seven-day average of hospital admissions is about 2,790 per day — an increase of about 36 percent from the previous seven-day period. And, after weeks of declines, seven-day average daily deaths have increased by 26 percent to 211 per day.... ...There is a clear message that is coming through: This is becoming a pandemic of the unvaccinated. We are seeing outbreaks of cases in parts of the country that have low vaccination coverage because unvaccinated people are at risk. And communities that are fully vaccinated are generally faring well.... MR. ZIENTS: As Dr. Walensky said, as the more transmissible Delta variant continues to spread across the country, we will likely continue and experi- — continue to experience an increase in COVID cases in the weeks ahead, with these cases concentrated in communities with lower vaccination rates. In fact, just four states accounted for more than 40 percent of all cases in the past week, with one in five of all cases occurring in Florida alone. And within communities, these cases are occurring primarily among unvaccinated individuals. ... The bottom line continues to be very, very simple: While fully vaccinated individuals have a high degree of protection against serious illness from COVID-19, including the Delta variant, unvaccinated Americans are not protected against serious illness, hospitalization, and death. And we’re seeing it in the data. Unvaccinated Americans account for virtually all recent COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths. Each COVID-19 death is tragic. And those happening now are even more tragic because they are preventable. .... Have a look at this report from the BBC from the beginning of the month to give some perspective to what you are seeing and also to confirm what emergent said. Don't just look at the headline numbers, look at what is behind them.
