I know a RN who has worked in Med/Surg for 9 1/2 years, and just started a new job in the midwest making $23.00/hour! Do you think that is too little per hour for nurses who have over eight or nine years experience?
Personally, I think it isn't enough. Your thoughts appreciated! Thanks!:)
Wow, I think a nurse with that much experience deserves ALOT more than $23/hour. I am a new grad working nights in Med-Surg and I make $30.75 an hour. We need experienced nurses where I work. Tell her to come to New York. :)
I would strongly suggest this move there are hospital that are screaming for nurses that only if you like a city which never sleeps! Nurses are surely NOT respected in MO! i wish you the best of luck!!!!
I have been an RN for 30 years. I make the same amt. now as I did in 1988. I live in a different part of the country now than I did in 1988, nevertheless, here I am years later, limited earnings. I work psych, (which is the step child of the medical field), in a rural hospital in Northern Pennsylvania. I make $21.00 per hour, full time days, 12 hr shifts, and I drive a freakin hour back & forth.
I got tired of nursing a few years ago, but not many other options pay the bills in rural America. For health reasons I'm not able to just pick up and relocate.
Hi there, I am from Portland Oregon area and I have worked at my job for less than one year. I make $36.42/hour, full benefts, day shift 12 hours and am in a hospital setting. I just love it! Best job (and money) ever, but again, the cost of living is higher (we live in Washington and I commute the 10 miles across the bridge to Oregon). We just bought a home in Atlanta Georgia and will be heading that way maybe next summer, looked into jobs there, I will be making 34.93/hour for telemetry, day shift. Pretty comparable I thought, and the cost of living is MUCH lower there! I was afraid of going down to the low 20's an hour but guess not! So, I originally was going to post the location difference on my reply but I just found out that it is not too much a difference. hope this helps!!
