OK... this may sound wierd, but I've been meaning to ask some of you wise folk out here, and I keep forgetting. But it just happened again, and I got up out of bed to post this.

For the past couple weeks, when I first lie down to go to sleep, I keep hearing a bruit in my ears !!! Really loud and rushing... like my carotids swooshing in my ears. And it's really starting to bug me. I can't remember ever hearing that in the past. ???

Any thoughts? Both ears... either side. Will wane after a period of time.. or maybe I just fall asleep and don't hear it anymore.. can't say. Never hear it when I'm upright, though. ???

Thanx for any input... will TRY to get some sleep now... ("swooosh, swooosh, swooosh").... :stone

BOY YOU GUYS ARE FREAKIN ME OUT :uhoh21:

I HAD AN APT SCHEDULED FOR THE DOC ON THURS AND I THINK I'LL HAVE HIM CHECK OUT EVERYTHING :chair:

NOW I WON'T SLEEP AT ALL WORRING ABOUT JNETTE 1.gif

OK. I have an appointment for Thursday afternoon.

Thanx for the "push" I needed. I'll be pissed if it's nothing... then again, I'll be relieved if it's nothing. :chuckle  Sheeesh.

Jnettet-

I am glad you have made an appt. Your diastolic pressure in the 90's is too high, especially for someone who has never had a hypertension issue. Are you taking any new meds? Over the counter? Herbal? Anything? Are you African American? Any changes in your kidneys, urination?

Let us know how your appt goes.....

Nope... none of the above. :chuckle

Anyway...... no "whooshing" last night. BP stayed about 120/84 and this am down to 116/80. See.... now I'm already having doubts about following up with my appt. But before you all jump me, yes, I'll still go. I'll see what my pressure does today... the diastolic is still way higher than the usual mid fifties to sixty. Plus I didn't work yesterday... or today. Want to see now the difference when I pull my 12 hours at work... see if that's what's making it jump up. Curious as to why suddenly that would make a difference, though.. never did before.

Need to ask about the abdominal pulsating, too. I have noticed that for years already. Is it possible that because I'm more on the lean side, that this is to be expected? Is it normal at ALL to feel your heartbeat there? Sometimes I can feel it while I;m walking or standing... (feel it inside, not palpating it). And I can almost always palpate it lying down.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow, eh?

No need to fret, Caffineaddict. This kid's got a long way to go yet. As the old German saying goes..."ya can't get rid of weeds". :rotfl:

that does sound a little stressfull

Have you tried exercising after work

I always exercise or play golf after work

when I finally get to lay down

there could be a tornado outside my door

and I would sleep through it anyway

Hey Tom... I've NEVER had difficulty falling asleep ! After being up since 0300 and at work at 0400, putting in a good 11-12 hours there, when 7:730- 8:00 pm hits, I'm in bed and out like a light !

And considering the non-stop pace at work for those11-12 hours, nope, have nothing left in me to give to excercise !

Looking forward to Spring, however... my days off will be spent golfing with hubby instead of on my hiney in front of this computer ! :D

And pushing the lawnmower, taking walks along the rivertrail, etc... C'MON SPRING !!!

sounds like an excellent plan to me

Get a goat ! :chuckle

Me, too.. have always loved a push mower. Something very soothing about pushmowing the yard. Kind of a "time out" for me... I can talk to my flowers and check the birdhouses, etc., etc. ;)

jnette,

have you had your appt yet???? what's up? you have many of us worried......:uhoh21:

Funny you should ask... yes, I just got back from my PA. And of COURSE (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!) my pressure was my usual 90/60 !!! I felt sooooooo ridiculous ! :imbar I told her I knew this would happen, and she laughed. Actually, it was down to about 110/70 yesterday all day, and then this morning. Of course, I haven't been at work the past couple days, either, so now I'm curious to see if THAT is when it shoots up. She asked that I do exactly what I had wanted to do before I even wanted to go see her.. collect some data. BPs qid for next two weeks, both arms, and to make notations when I hear the whooshing, also note whether I was at work that day or not, etc.

She is also sending me for a doppler study of carotids and abd. aorta... that's on the 16th. Then we'll go from there. Did bloodwork, too, and depending on the results of all the above, we'll go from there. She said it would be hard for her at this moment to justify to my insurance anything further such as renin angiotensin, 24 hour urine.. said she has a hard enough time even getting these ppl to approve glucose studies. But she's wanting to so a pheochromocytoma thing as well... said to tell you guys we'll be "chasing that zebra"... (ok... I'm ignorant, but exactly what does that mean?)

So you all can calm down now, ok? :D

Thanx for the concern, though. You know how it is... you just HATE to go for this stuff thinking there's nothing to it in the end. She was cool with that, she understood, and we'll be following up in two weeks.
