Question about re-registering for NCLEX-RN

I have a question!!!
Since I need to take the NCLEX-RN again, do I need to register both at pearson and continental testing? I registered at pearson already but I don't know if I need to register again for continental testing services. My friend said that there's no need because applications are basically good for 3 years but I don't know if that follows if you failed it the first time already. Help please......
By the way, I live in Chicago, so I am applying for Illinois licensure.

You will not need to register again, but you need to pay the fee (the same fee you paid the first time you applied). With Continental testing services, you can do this online if you went to their Web site and pay online (which is faster). Your state BON will / should have sent/send you an envelope with some instructions on what should be done with a report of your performance on your previous NCLEX test. No kidding, this test is expensive!!!!!!!! :madface: Good luck on your next attempt.

I am also from Chicago and took NCLEX in July and didn't pass. All I did was re-pay the 200 dollars registration fee with Pearsonvue on thier website. It has been 45 days so I'm just waiting for my ATT. I think that is all but I'll keep checking this post. thanks

Isn't Continental testing services the same as pearsonvue? I was under the impression that the NCSBN employs pearsonvue as for thier testing services. I didn't do anything with Continental testing as I just posted I only re-registered with Pearsonvue. I'll look into that. Thanks

that is why I am so confused. I think we need to register for both, but then my friend who didn't pass also said that the applications are good for 3 years for continental testing. I asked pearsonvue and they said that they don't have an idea about the state's requirements for retesting. For pearsonvue, we have to pay again because once you failed the test, the ATT issued to us will be "expired." So, I don't know about CTS. I tried calling them and emailing them but I did not get any response. Plus, I registered at pearson 2 weeks ago already and I still don't have my ATT. I know the usual waiting period is 3-6 weeks, but the first time I applied for my ATT, it only took a week and a half. So, I'm worried that I am not going through the process correctly. I was thinking that it would be faster for them to issue us another one considering that they have all our papers etc.

Did you find out anything?

Please be aware that CTS is under Illinois BON, and Pearsonvue only handles the testing part of NCLEX through NCSBN. I'm sure you paid $200 to Pearsonvue the first time you applied for NCLEX as well as $79 to Illinois BON through CTS. Therefore, you need to do the same over again. You will not get your ATT if you only pay the fees to Pearsonvue because CTS authorizes Pearsonvue to do as such after CTS is satisfied that you have submitted and paid everything. Here is the Website for CTS below where you will need to apply online and indicate that you are repeating the test and paid $79 online. Or you can also print the form and mail it to them if you want. Normally it takes about 5-14 dyas before you get your ATT online (through your email) from peasrsonvue if you gave them your email address. Good luck. This is so confusing. I'm really ready just to take it again. I'm going to try calling the state again and I'll let you know. I called them in July and got through so hopefully it works again.

Hi again. Sorry. So I clicked on th first link that Tinta06 provided (thank you!) and I think I filled out the CTS form that I originally mailed in, online this time. It asked whether or not I was retaking the exam, the results and so forth. I also paid the $79 dollars for the exam.

The confirmation page did say to send in documents but I'm going to call CTS tomorrow morning to find out if we need to do that. I would assume (but then again..assuming hasn't gotten me very far!) that they would still have our documents. I'll keep you posted. Thank you Tinta for that information-I have been calling the state and Pearsonvue all day. The state just hasn't been answering. surprise surprise.

NO, you do not need to resubmit your finger prints or documents right now. However, after passing NCLEX, if your finger prints are over 60 days, you will be required to resubmit your finger prints again otherwise your licensure will not be issued. As for documentations, you will only be required to resubmit them after 3 years from the date of your first application if you will not be successful with NCLEX by then. Off course, this comes with other requirments as well. For now, just pay the $79 to CTS and the $200 to pearsonvue then you will be set for the ATT from pearsonvue.

Ok, I have another question. Another reason why I couldn't finish filling out the application for CTS is because there is this question about whether or not I have been employed as an RN or LPN after graduation. It is a yes or a no thing and I honestly don't know what to say. Yes, I have been employed functioning as an RN, but I was license pending. Also, I asked my employer and they weren't sure about it either because technically, I wasn't functioning as a registered nurse. Plus, if I pick yes, they are asking me to send them a work history form and my employer is not sure about that either. What is the Work History form? I don't know, this thing is not moving for me because I know I have to register but I don't want to give the wrong info though. Called them a lot of times and left messages, it's been a week and I still haven't heard from them. This is so frustrating. Waiting 45 days is frustrating enough.. Man...................

As far as I'm concerned, you only say YES for work history if you had a temp license,LPN license, or license from another state. If you worked on license pending, that means you did not work as an RN but a graduate nurse on license pending, therefore, you did not perform any duites beyond your scope of practice without an RN's supervision. If this is the case, this is not considered as an RN work histroy. If you did, then your license will be delayed or denied because you worked independently without a license, which you were not suposed to. I highly recommend you to say NO if did not, to avoid unneccessary repercussions. :nono:
