For anyone with experience as a ADON/DON, how did you handle negative reception at work?
  3. i'm sorry you did not make it second time around. here is what i did after my first attempt. i used saunders for content 4500 questions, ignatavicuis-workman 5th ed medical surgical book -free online questions from evolve web site -http://evolve.elsevier.com/staticpages/index.html for integrated management questions only on each chapter. this covers prioritizing, delegation and triage. i bought 21 days of nclex review questions from ncsbn for $45.00. i did all questions and concentrated on prioritizing, delegation, pharmacology a kind person posted an amazing site for infection control, which is absolutely helpful if you read everything and understand: http://info.med.yale.edu/ynhh/infection/welcome.html. i used this site to understand triage more: http://caring4you.net/disaster.html. two days before testing, i did the free kaplan questions from this site: http://www.caring4you.net/tests.html. good luck and god bless.:monkeydance:
  4. Thank you Leeae85. I'm going to checkout this site as soon as I'm done on this forum. About facilities liability insurance, I was told by my school that they only cover specifics related to their organization not your professional liability. One of the hospitals that had offered me a job comfirmed this when I asked them. Did you try to find out more about how much coverage is involved in these facility insurances? Once more thanks for the information.:monkeydance:
  5. Could someone please help with some information about nursing professional liability insurance. I'm a new nursing graduate who is waiting for a license to be issued any day and not working yet, but will start practicing as soon as a license is issued. How soon should I get nursing professional liability insurance? And what kind of insurance coverage is best for a new graduate? Please help.
  6. Thank you so much for the information all. I wonder why Illinois takes so long to process/issue licenses (in today's technology). I guess it explains why most new graduates prefer other states than Illinois to get new licenses. It just adds to unneccessary anxiety especially if one is financially under equiped. I have been turning down all my job offers because I do not want to jeopardize what I have worked so hard to earn. I understand I can work as a GN under an RN supervision/signing paperwork e.tc., but I do not believe in taking such risks. I guess I have to wait till I have a paper license in my palms. Once more thank you all.
  7. good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!:monkeydance:
  8. 70% is good if it is on delegation, prioritizing, safety, pharmacology and alternatives. It is very important that you understand the rationals. I took NCSBN for three weeks before testing and I think it helped a lot in these areas. Nonetheless, please be aware that I combined it with Saunders. Good luck.
  9. Good luck. Remember take a few minutes to take deep refreshing breaths before starting your test, and do not write anything down on the white board if you are still nervous after the test starts, because it will increase your anxiety if you won't remember some information unless it is related to the question you are answering. Once more best wishes :monkeydance:
  10. Good luck :monkeydance:
  11. Chelli, try these Web sites maybe they may help answering some of your questions. Good luck :monkeydance: http://www.ncsbn.org/ http://www.ncsbn.org/pdfs/2006_Candidate_Bulletin.pdf http://www.pearsonvue.com/nclex/
  12. I'm not sure about your location, but Illinois offers free CNA classes through most adult learning centers. You can find out by calling any adult learning center location in illinois.:monkeydance: Good luck.
  13. I do not think you will have an Indiana license if you tested in Indiana. It does not matter where you test. What is important is the state you applied for your license. Most of my friends applied for an Illinois license but tested in Indiana or MO and still got their Il license. In fact, you can now test anywhere in U.S.A and still get a license where you applied. About Indiana testing time, some days Indiana testing centers have 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 2:00pm as well. I had my test two weeks ago in Indiana at 1:00pm. And cousin had hers at 11:00 in July. It all depends on what days are open and suitable to you. If not, you can always try other states other than the two. Good luck.
  14. Hi eveyone, I'm new to this forum. I recently passed my RN-NCLEX, I got my official results from continental testing center, and I sent the licensure application and fee ($50.00). My question is; can I work/orientate on license pending as GN on an RN supervision since I was told the license takes about 4 to 6 weeks to be processed? Another question is; will I have to wait for a paper mailed RN license or can I start practicing as an RN once my name has been posted on Illinois licensure verification Website? Please help!
  15. Best wishes!!!!!!!!!
