I'm a BSN, RN with 9 years of experience in med/surg, tele, ambulatory surgery. Do you think Sloan Kettering will even consider me without oncology experience? I have am old nursing school buddy who works their whose name I put as a referal. Do they only hire people with oncology?
thanks in advance!

I don't think you need oncology experience. You have all the general inpatient skills needed through your experience and the oncology part you can be trained on the job. When applying highlight all the transferable skills you have. Sloan Kettering hires new grads with zero experience but they all know someone on the inside. They two people I know who started there as new grads all knew someone high ranking. However you have inpatient experience so you have a good chance.

You have a really good shot. My sister works at Sloan, she started working out at Mount Sinai/Beth Israel with no oncology experience. Sloan only hires nurses with their BSNs, plus you have such a wide variety of experience behind you. All the best, I hope it works out for you! :)
