Question for those who hire, regarding reference checks

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

When you get to the point where you're doing reference checks on a candidate, does that mean you've narrowed it down to one specific candidate and a job offer is in the offing, pending a good reference/background check?

Or do facilities ever do reference checks on the top handful of candidates?

Well, thanks, but I just realized I've moved 47 times, and since I am 50, I am still short 3 moves. I don't like my stones to gather moss.

Restless soul, ISO Nirvana. In fact I'm moving in January- Honolulu, or Ft. Lauderdale. Your call, whatever you decide is OK by me. But I've already been to Ft. Lauderdale, and don't like to repeat myself. But still- your call. Draw a straw, maybe?

How about Boca?

The mouth of the rat? Been. Been to every beach in the state, in fact. But FL is kind of icky other than beaches. Still, your call. HI scares me, cost of living wise. But I'm not trying to pressure you...

Hey, you're growing on me, Karl Farmer. I kind of like you.

I initially thought your name was an allusion to the book "I Am The Cheese" but I wiki'ed it and they had different names.

If you get a real background check, to include IP address, even, you'll not find my real name. But, Karl is part of my real name. And? I've always WANTED to be a farmer!

I did just a few weeks ago. I've listed a charge nurse as a personal reference (after getting her permission) and she informed me that she had been contacted.

me too. Pretty much every time I'm offered a job, my p ref's tell me they were contacted. I then send them their 50.00 for saying nice things about me!

I've been in the room when my references were called....
