Question about failing out of a nursing program??

Published

I have a question in regards to failing out of a nursing program.

I know that many nursing programs have a "2 time and your done" policy where once you fail twice you cant reapply.

Does that mean for the rest of your life you can never go back to that school you failed the nursing program at and try to reply again? OR does you mean your only barred from applying for a certain amount of time?

For the schools I am familiar with, it's a lifetime ban but there is no standardization, so policies can vary a great deal from school to school.

The policy varies from school to school -- there's no firm, absolute answer to your question.

You would have to ask the individual school involved what that means. You would also have to ask any other school to which you would apply how they feel about it.

My school has a 5 yr policy. You can't reapply for 5 yrs.

My school had the same policy, however if you had a learning disability or mental illness they were forgiving and willing to give you another chance, as long as you met with the chairperson of the nursing program and signed a contract promising to do certain things such as find a tutor, spend X amount of hours in the SIM lab, not work more than 12hrs/week, etc.
